OFFICIAL Payday 2 (Discussion)

Yeah I had to grab the Sniper Pack. I have everything now except the Shotguns which I don't care about anyway

Only 190,000 more members to get and about a month and a half to go.

The Judge which was unlocked as part of Crimefest is pretty awesome. With the suppressor, it is 27 concealment--a pocket shotgun. Accuracy is horrendous and the risk of hitting something behind the target (like glass) with 000 buckshot can prove problematical but in a pinch (like Shadowraid's heavy guards), it brings the hurt. Not to mention, the kicks like a donkey so you can actually use it to knock a guard out of sight.

So an update apparently rebalanced stealth bonus, XP, and money rewards hugely. Diamond Store now gets a 50% XP stealth bonus (versus 30%). Bank Heist now only has 10% (versus 20%). Firestarter and Election Day also had their stealth bonuses hugely reduced (40% to 15% on Firestarter for example). We were also blown away with the cash an XP we got from Bank Heist: Gold Pro Job. First time we hit it on Death Wish had four gold + deposits netting just shy of 7 million. The second time we hit it had two gold + deposits netting around 5 million. That's at least double what it was previously. To put it into context, Gold bars used to be worth about $200,000 each. Now they're worth about $600,000. Both times we also go north of 150,000 XP versus 40,000'ish before. I don't know if this is true for non-pro and non-gold jobs or not. Additionally, the ATM was worth north of $300,000 each compared to ~$30,000 each. Individual gold bars went from $13,000 to about $32,000.

Lots of changes.

Tempted to stealth Dwish trainheist now! With all the bags it used to only get you about 2mill

I don't know if they changed ammo or not. We did transport: harbor on hard once to see if we could get the documents but they didn't show. It does seem like Diamond Heist and Transport had the value of the bags changed but it is very small compared to the aforementioned heists. If memory serves, the 14 required bags of Diamond Heist were worth $5000 each. The three extra bags came in at $105,000 each on Deathwish. All totaled that only came to about $400,000. On the other hand, the loose jewelry came in at north of $2 million.

Come to think of it, Firestarter didn't seem to go up in reward either ($195,000 per weapon on very hard).

To summarize:
-Bank Heist went way up because Gold Bars are so much more valuable.
-Loose, non-cash items went up substantially so heists that have a lot of them (banks, jewelry store, and diamond store) have subsequently got a lot more lucrative.

I haven't tried Shadowraid yet so I don't know if things like the Artifact went way up or not.

Shadowraid also got the boost. We completed it on Deathwish getting over 16 bags of loot of all types out. The total take was about $12.6 million and I believe my XP was increased by around 386,000. Each artifact (got two if memory serves) and piece of armor (got four) netted over $1 million each. We both walked away with almost $3 million worth in spending cash.

They got over 1,400,000 community members. I suspect they might get to 1,450,000 but probably not 1,500,000 by October 18. 1,450,000 is some heists available for day and night.

Edit: Oh, and there's this:
Geminose Acquired By Starbreeze For $7 Million

Skulldozer bobble head coming?

Fill out your system specs in your TPU user control panel.

Crimefest is a week away and it looks like they'll make 1.5 million! :D

1.5 million!

All they're saying about the special reward is, I quote, ";)"

To celebrate that you reached the goal earlier than anticipated, we're giving out PAYDAY: The Heist for free via Steam Thursday morning at 10AM Pacific and going forward for 24 hours. This was going to happen on the 18th originally but since you guys did such an awesome job we want to give you the reward as soon as possible.

@FordGT90Concept: hey Ford, mind a question?

We have a LAN upcoming, and we are always looking to try stuff. The 4 of us tried Payday but found it very difficult, as I mentioned before to you. Do you think Payday 2 is any better in terms of difficulty for people starting out?

It's still on sale on Steam so it's got me thinking...

Thanks in advance :respect:

Well, I just turned infamous which sent me back to level 0. I was able to do Mallcrashers on Overkill with the help of the two AI, repeatedly, without failing. Early game, there's two things that make the game hard:
1) Access to poor guns and no mods for them.
2) Little to no armor.

My best advice for people starting off is to play with someone that is high level (80+) and drag you through a Deathwish mission (e.g. Bank Heist). Barring that, a group of 4 people should be able to complete most of the stealth missions on Overkill. Specifically, what comes to mind is Ukrainian Job and Bank Heist (since you probably don't have a suppressed weapon, you'll have to stab guards). After you complete a few of those jobs and you get a suppressed weapon, you should be able to manage Shadowraid. Bare in mind that in Bank Heist, you need to deal with the four guards and bank manager first (if the doors are open, they all go outside eventually) and then you can freely shoot out cameras on Overkill difficulty and below. If the vault door is close to the tellers, the mission becomes much harder because you have to kill the tellers before they hit the alarm button and then you have to keep all the people in the lobby and potentially the back area subdued for at least 5 minutes. Whenever I see the vault door is by the tellers, I just retry.

Ehm, TL;DR: if you plan on shooting, you shouldn't do any missions harder than Normal and you probably won't survive a very long shoot out. If you plan on sneaking, it depends on the mission and by that, I mean you can only take 4 guards down without sounding the alarm so missions that have four guards are very sneakable even at low level.

Failure is always an option in PAYDAY. If it seems hopeless, terminate the contract and try something else. Also, if you're trying to stealth, it is easiest for the host to not get spotted. Latency has ruined more than a few missions for me.

A new event that unlocks stuff for everyone based on sales:
The Hype Train

They're almost to three already and I'd say it's not really worth getting higher than 7 this time. Some of them look really neat (e.g. car heist).

PAYDAY 2 and most DLCs are on sale right now:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/218620/

Also, due to having 9 out of 10 Hype Train rewards reached, 90% XP bonus is currently in effect until the end of March. Shadow Raid Deathwish with Perk Deck +45% bonus on top of that 90% XP bonus will net you around 900,000 XP now!

What's your loud loadout?

I prefer Assault Rifle such as CAR-4 but I'm having trouble with Shield. Having Locomotive 12G secondary with AP slug helps but doesn't feel reliable.
R93/Thanatos as primary is very good but my secondary is nowhere near AR goodness, not even Patchett.

Silent: CAR-4, Gruber Kruz or that Uzi looking gun for Shadow Raid deathwish (only gun I found so far that can level those Murky Water bastards after they spot me), Suit, EMP or trip mines
Loud: Minigun (formerly Buzz Saw, would have been Brenner-21 but I never got the good mods for it :(), Lion Roar Lion, or one of the sniper rifles depending on difficulty; Kobus-90 (anti-sniper), Locomotive 12G (close up lovin'), or RPG; Improved Tactical Armor; ammo bags (all me guns are hungry! :() or sentry gun

Best solutions to shield: sniper rifle (Rattlesnake = 2 shots, R93 = 1 shot), shotgun with HE rounds (distracts), grenades (distracts), or RPG (1 shot)

Best solutions to bulldozer: sniper rifle (Thanatos .50, two or three shots to the face mask, I forgot), shotgun with HE rounds (distracts him so others can kill him), grenades (distracts him but...HE rounds are better because their effectiveness at distracting is the same but you have a lot more shotgun ammo than grenades), or RPG (one-shot-kill two skulldozer + the shields having a party with them >: D)

When I used AP slugs, it takes like 12-13 hits for a kill through the shield...so bad as to not even be worth it. :(

FYI, Hoxton Breakout on Overkill with the XP bonuses got me almost 2,000,000 XP. I would have gotten over 2 million if I wasn't in jail when they finished. There were 3 bulldozers at the end, my two friends + 1 bot managed to down one and the other two luckily stayed away from the last door. Got through by the skin of our teeth. :x

Haha I found the one that goes with my CAR-4, RPG! 10k splash damage is really game breaking, got 3 shields from single shot. Needs ammo bags though, but well nothing is perfect.

FYI, the CAR-4 is a really bad combat gun. It's popular because it's about the only primary gun that can get to concealment 30 while suppressed. On stealth missions, I usually use the secondary for engaging because they handle so much better.

Yeah, but I like it because it's kinda jack-of-all-trade for me.
For loud, It's a bit sluggish but deal high enough damage, good for close range panic spray with quadstacked mag, and accurate enough for long range, also capable of taking down normal dozer with single mag.
I have yet to find auto fire secondary (SMG) that comes close to that. MP-5 handling is godlike but long range accuracy is bad and on overkill or above, the damage simply too small for me.
Patchett is close but 20 rounds mag and 80 total ammo often not enough.

For stealth, you could use Hitman perk and get Akimbo too.

Kobus-90 has pin-point accuracy with the extended barrel and single shot mode. It can also be a bullet hose (50 shots) in auto. I don't remember the damage but it isn't low.

I can understand your position if your level is low. On higher levels, CAR-4 is only used for stealth.

They increased the XP reward bonus to 100% for the rest of the month. Also, I was wrong about how XP is calculated. It seems to be based on the base mission XP instead of based on total. As such, Shadow Raid on Deathwish awards about 650,000 instead of 900,000 (previous estimate). That's still considerably better than the 450,000 XP without the bonus.

RPG is the best! I love being able to instakill dozers

Yeah, it's way overpowered and really a no-brainer for all loud heists. They really need to change it. For example, it should only kill a skulldozer on direct hit.

try Street Sweeper with HE Rounds. it's my primary stunner.

Yup, same. With the RPG though, pretty much all other secondary weapons became obsolete. :(
