I really have no idea what limits my FPS on games, some games give me overall bad frame rates, but most games have huge short FPS drops.
My system:
AMD FX-8350 not overclocked
Crucial ballistix 2x4gb 1600MHz RAM
geforce gtx 1060 3gb
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3
WD Blue WD10EZEX, 1TB

Thanks in advance

Nikay

Vsync off?
What resolution you trying to play it on? 1060 is optimum for 1920x1080.
What games you trying play?

Vsync is off yes, i tried playing 1050x1680 because that is my monitor's resolution. But i have the same problem with 1920x1080.
Games i am trying to play: GTA V, ARK, P3D, F1 2017, COD WW2, BF1, FSX with PMDG addon.
Thanks for helping.

You need a core unparker tool and 2 bulldozer patches, ontop of that you are pretty much stuck with the motherboard due to power phases being bottom barrel so you can't overclock.

Either you need to consider an R3, R5 system or get a Sabertooth R2.0/3.0 or Crosshair 4 mobo...

By the way how do you power your machine? Do you use your body to adapt power from the outlet?

I will look into a new MOBO i guess. I personally have no experience with overclocking so i have no idea how to do this and if my hyper tx3 EVO is a good enough cooler.
I will try the core unparker tommorrow.
Hahaha, no i use corsair CX750M, but i thought it was irrelevant.

Complete system specs are relevent to answering questions.

If I were you get an R3 1300X or better with new board, overclocking would require a better cooler for the 8 core.

What kind of drops, severe drops down to the 10s or it dips below 60? Is it a stutter like drop, or constant low FPS? Can you give more info, say on a specific game? Is there any software running in the background, overlays, f.lux etc?

Severe stutter drops on low/medium settings with GTA V, ARK, COD WW2. If i set these games on high/ultra setting, the average fps will stay below 40 fps and minimums of 10 fps for a couple of seconds.
Software running on the background: Discord, Steam client, nod 32 anti virus and i try to use geforce experience/razor cortex to boost my fps. That is about it. There is absolutely no malware/virus limiting my performance, i already tried clean install of windows.

Hm, have you checked your temps, and is the drive in good health. In Task manager, or better yet ProcessExplorer, check if something else is eating your CPU/GPU usage.

Temps are okay. I have no signs of the drive being in a bad condition. I will check the CPU/GPU usage tomorrow.

Thank you very much for helping me.

Is it even worth investing in this rig? Maybe wait it out for a few months, see if RAM prices calm down, and upgrade entirely.

CPU is used mainy by the game and system idle process wich i read is your non used usage, GPU is only used by the game.
Temps stay at 50/60 degrees celcius under heavy load for both the cpu and gpu.

1.Make sure the Nvidia control panel is set to Maximum Performance and
2. Keep the shadows and shaders at medium or low ,
3. also turn off AF and CMAA...
4. ALSO set the WIndows Power options to Maximum Performance
5..and set the Windows Power options to not let your harddrive go to sleep.
6. and as a last resort temporarily turn of AV .....test and report back.
Welcome to TPU!!!:lovetpu:

Welcome to TPU!!!:lovetpu:

I did some really intensive testing and this actually helped a lot, i have not experienced any drops and general FPS is way higher.
Thank you very much.

Nice , I'm glad it helped you out! Maybe you could mark the thread title as solved with the fix added to your first post and thank you very much for reporting back with what worked!:lovetpu:
You'll probably need a Moderator to edit title to Solved and I'm tagging Mussels who is a Moderator who may be able to do that.

Ark is known for being rather un-optimized, you can go out and buy a brand new rig with all the power in the world and Ark still likes to perform like garbage sometimes. You gave other examples so this wasn't a big deal. Just wanted to let you know if you are looking for Ark FPS stability you are gonna spend a lot of $$ for little gain.

Some games you might be hitting the 3GB memory capacity on your card if you are using high levels of AA or the DSR functionality on your card. If you are using Geforce Experience some of these features could have been turned on automatically. (If you turned on the DSR factors just to play with them once and left them on, GFE will automatically set games to use it)

Also, if you are using windows 10, the Windows GameBar can cause performance issues. Turning it off can help.
