Good day,

I am experiencing a weird problem with my system especially after I have installed Steam and DotA 2.

I recently upgraded my rig with the AMD FX8320E processor with the MSI 970 AM3+ motherboard.

Work log: (Refer to my profile the complete system specs)

1. Installed windows with every updates.
2. Installed all latest motherboard drivers (chipset, killer ethernet, updated the bios via live update and etc)
3. Installed the latest AMD GPU driver (Catalyst 14.2)
4. Run these benchmarks.... (As you can see March 1 tests...)

As you can see, I have ran all benchmarks successfully and got pretty decent scores.

5. Downloaded Steam and Installed DotA 2, while launching Dota2 for the first time, it downloaded and installed some DirectX.

The problem:

I played with bots and in just 10 minutes, my pc restarted without BSOD, I have turned off the automatic restart from windows settings and still got the same restart without BSOD.

I recently tried my benchmarks back and I got now the same restart :(

Can anyone please help me with this problem?

Thank you TPU :(

Hi,

As per the benchmarks, there are temps on it.

The problem is after installing DotA2 I can't run those benchmarks anymore, everytime I play games, run those benchies again - PC restarts without BSOD.

As per calculations, my wattage don't exceed 500w. Maybe its a faulty MOBO?

If it doesn't BSOD, does it black screen and instantly restart, or does it make a constant buzzing noise through your headphones/speakers and lock up?

Hi, black screen then instantly restart and after boot up options like safe mode and etc shows up.

No noise from my headphones.

I have played DotA 2 with bot and got 20 minutes without any errors.

Then I ran Furmark and it was around 10 minutes running then it restarted at 12:35 AM local time. Here is the screen shot of my Event Viewer.

I have posted the other error on top with screenshot. That is the only errors I had with the restart. Nothing more I can find.

Perhaps try using a different PSU if possible. 500w may not cut it for your system... It may be overloading a rail.

41 is always hardware related. either due to a faulty part or a bad condition like a short an over load over heat or any other kind of hardware interrupt. in every case you have 3 things to look at.

again they are

Heat
PSU
Motherboard.

If the heat is fine you need to try turning down your OC if you have one. Try running everything at default and see if it is still doing it. If you are not overclocking you need to start testing parts in this case a PSU or motherboard.

Kernel power 41 is not a software problem.

No OC on my system. I have bought a new PSU (Corsair VS650) just an entry PSU just to test if my PSU is bad.

Any ways to check the motherboard?

unfortunately not usually. other then settings not being correct (mostly due to OC) it might just be a bad component that fails under load. so the only way to be 100% sure is to get a new one and RMA the old board.

I will test the new PSU and run furmark again. As per GPU temps, its 70-75C. But during games like DotA2 and etc it still restarts....

Thats because you are assuming the harder you stress it the more likely you are to crash but that isnt the case. Dota could simply be giving instructions to the CPU or GPU that really irritates them. Furmark might just take longer to do it.
