Hello

I have a tuf b550m ( suspected the motherboard previously , i had a msi mpg b550 and it showed the same behavior ) , ryzen 7 5700x3d , 32 gb dual channel 4 slots ( tested with memtest86 ) and a 650w xpg pylon psu ( i had a 4070 windforce before , it worked with the same configs for about 1 year fine , same TV , cables etc... i only got a new 4070 model ( eagle ) and gave my windforce to my brother)

I´m wondering , is it safe to assure my GPU is busted ? it is new and this happens randomly

It is not due to monitor being ON before the PC as it works without turning the monitor on ( monitor and TV works fine as well)

When the PC is on , it works flawlessly , no crashes whatsoever

I´m about to use warranty but i´m wondering if it is really the gpu

the previous gpu worked fine on the same specs

Safe to assure it is my GPU or something else ? but i´m afraid the warranty won´t find the issue

Should i look into something else ?

thanks

Let me see if I understood you correctly, your PC works just fine but the VGA debug LED comes up when starting the PC sometimes?

Something similar occurs with my PC, usually reproducible when I turn my PC on first and then turn my TV on after some time, but simply rebooting it will have the LED turn itself off. If this is the case, disregard it and don't worry, you don't have hardware damage or any problems going on. It's just a BIOS bug that seems to occur with ASUS motherboards sometimes. The GPU itself has no bearing on it either, and I have a matching ASUS ROG GPU for my machine as well. If your motherboard had a debug code reader, you could see exactly where or if any issue has actually occurred, unfortunately, motherboard manufacturers omit it from budget and midrange motherboards as if it's some hilariously expensive component (it's not).

yeah that is exactly what happens

but i don´t think it has to do with monitor / tv On as it boots fine without it plugged in

Do you think it could be my PSU ? in games it works fine (4k settings)

I don´t think this has to do with motherboard as well , i rmaed my msi board before ( mpg b550 ) that showed the same behavior with the gpu

No shutdowns , freezes , bsod etc ( regarding the psu )

If it were the psu it would be more apparent right ?

If your PC is working fine, then a problem doesn't exist. That debug LED isn't an authority, and despite its debug function, it can and seemingly is affected by a bug lol. Something to do with monitor detection. Simply rebooting the PC will fix it.

Only get worried if your PC actually malfunctions

Weird i had 3 builds already ( one even a 4070 windforce that i gave to my brother )

and this white light never happened

Is my PSU bad ? the model is xpg adata pylon 650w

Or it could be falling before boot and it shows vga light instead ? it always stops in the vga light

thanks

There is no failure, just a motherboard-side issue with display detection, which resolves itself when the OS finally loads. Don't worry about it, it is not a problem. White LED is a bit nasty though, but like I said, just reboot and it will go away

Do you reboot when this happens for you as well ?

Yeah, I find the light annoying. But it's just a light, will have no bearing on the PC's functionality or performance, and you don't have to worry about it

I mean , my pc wont post when the light appears ( it doesn´t stay lit when the computer is working )

My pc simply won´t boot and a restart is needed

Oh then your issue is different from mine. But still doesn't sound like hardware damage to me. Tried resetting CMOS by shorting the clear CMOS jumper or taking the coin battery off (with the power supply turned off) for a moment and letting the BIOS refresh settings? Just save the current settings under a profile before you do that.

I haven´t tried it but i know it is not the motherboard

Both my asus ( current ) and msi ( that i rmaed before ) show the same exact behavior

I´m just suspecting my PSU before RMA

Do you think it is more accurate to RMA GPU than PSU ?

Thanks

Bad power supply can definitely cause an initialization problem, since you said it runs fine if it does start up, that seems most likely. Does the GPU crash under heavy load while already on Windows?

Neither both component shows any instability or crash

If it were specially the PSU it could stop on CPU light maybe ? i know the GPU is more power hungry but the light always stops at the VGA light

with my 4070 windforce and same pc parts i never had this white light

i know everything points to the GPU but who knows if there is something else happening maybe
