Hello all, I am looking for an under $50 wireless G (or N) card that goes into a PCI slot. In my apartment my desktop is too far away from my cable modem and router (well maybe a 100 Ft. ethernet cord would do it :laugh: ). So looking for a good reliable stable PCI slot wireless adapter compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. Will be doing some occasional BF2 or CSS or COD4 online play on it. Currently using my Dell XPS laptop as a wireless adapter for my desktop.

Or maybe I should just get 100 foot ethernet cable...what are your thoughts?

look into homeplug, it may cost a little more than you want but its more reliable than wireless, and more convenient than ethernet cables

I agree. I tried out homeplug a while ago, and for a long-distance solution in a house, its pretty good. A little expensive though.

Otherwise,

Linksys WMP600N is a pretty good wireless card. Used this in a previous build for a friend, and awaiting delivery of another one for my gf. I recommend them.

After thinking about it, I've realized this might just be the best option. Its cheap, reliable, and don't have to worry about compatibility issues with any OS's. Now, I gotta figure out if 100 Ft. is actually enough, but I think it should be. Also, hopefully the roommates are ok with my running 100 ft. Ethernet cable up the stairs :laugh:

homeplug is also OS independant - it uses the existing electrical wiring in your home as network cabling.

Yeah, it boggles the mind at first... but it means zero wiring to be done.

Yea its a really cool idea, but after looking into it, I ended up ordering a 100 ft. Ethernet cable for $8 (with free shipping) on eBay. It's a cheap and easy solution. If I owned the place I'd drill holes and run wire through the walls...but I can't do that so I'll just do my best job of hiding between walls and carpet.
