The last few days ive noticed that my GPU temperature has gone up....
I have a X850XT PE, I have vacuumed my comp and turned up my fan speed
Im getting like 100 degress whilst playing COD2 at 1024*768 i think
2006-05-27 13:31:37 Temperature: GPU: 100.4°C GPU environment: 64.0°C
Is it normal to reach those temperature?????
got my fan speed about 35% and its quite noisy and im getting like 42 degress at idle
And few days ago THE VPU recovery came up which was werid.
I got a standard fan that comes with it and stuff and havent overclocked it ;)
Is this normal or should i be worrying about it???
Thx if any1 relies...

it shouldnt run that hot with stock cooler.. the artic one is very nice and worth buying.. but that still leaves me wondering why the card is running so hot with the stock cooler..

have u pulled the card and really made sure the very fine fins arnt clogged up.. i would do that if u havnt..

ignore the idle temps its the 3d ones that matter..

trog

ps.. for interest my 850 at 540/600 runs under 60c under load with artic silencer and u cant hear it..

The average X850XT PE temperature is between 70 and 80*C, so you are DEFINITELY overheating, and ATISilencer5 will help you alot. After you get it, make sure you set the fan to 100% (remember to check the box that says "do not change PWM frequency", or else that will be one short lived ATISilencer5 :p). That will hopefully take care of your temperatures. As long as you read the instructions, installation of ATISilencer5 will be easy. I reccomend Q tips and nail polish remover to take off thermal paste :D. Let me know if you need any more help. Good luck putting that silencer on, you're gonna love it .

it could be a simple case of the termal paste has died or the cooler has been jolted and isnt making good contact with the core, id try just removing the cooler, applying some new thermal paste and seeing what that does before buying anything.
