Physical Memory Problem

I got the SP2 pre-beta. Getting SP2 Beta now.

argh, how do i unistall the SP2 pre-beta? Microsoft wont let me install SP2 with that installed.

update your motherboard driver (NB and SB) , also put more juice on northbridge (because you are overclocked).

How do you give more juice to your northbridge? My cpu is oc's as well. I am also having a prob with my RAM. I have 4gb but it is reading 3.25.

Check your mobo BIOS options to check there isn't a mapping devices/memory outside the 3gb sector or something along those lines, i had to do that on my old mobo for it to support >3.75 gb of memory in my system.

If you go start menu> run (may need to type "run" in search box to choose it) and type "dxdiag" then press enter. What memory does it register being installed in there?

my dxdiag says I only have 3326mb RAM when there's really 4gb. Sorry to but in but I'm having the same difficulty!

omg, i found the problem:

I formatted Windows this morning (had CCC issues aswell) and now it shows 4096 (i have that in, 6GB going in when OCZ send replacement).

Im not saying format, it's just that was the best for me.

omfg! Its happened again.

I formatted and it showed 4096mb. Now, 2 days later it show 3326mb! Ive only installed afew Programs, things like Photoshop etc. so its not them. However, i did download 140MB of Microsoft updates, so im thinking one of them has done it. Ive system restored, but had no luck.

Anyone got any ideas why?

ok, Forget that then. Ill use the power of touch.

What about the other problem?

Hi. I just noticed you have a E7200 oc to 3.6. How did you do that? Mine only goes to about 3.17 before it locks up. I am using stock cooler, which isn't a really bad one. Plus the case is kind of small, and I don't have a whole lot of airflow. Do you hava a really good cooler on it or something?

arctic freezer 7 pro and a stupid amount of airflow. Oh, and Thermal paste 5.

I looked up that cooler and I found one for $18 on Newegg! Cool! (no pun intended) I'm going to get a bigger case with lots of fans. Hopefully I can get my cpu to at least 3.5 Thanks.

Ok, revival time.

I've formatted twice since the last post and I've realised that it drops from 4096 to 3326 after 24hours (ish). Does anyone have any ideas?

Is your Vista legit?

If you can get your hands on a *Different x64 OS* for testing you can use it to determine if the problem is hardware or software related.

I bought it from OcUK.

Are you persuading me to illegally download an OS, sir?

I wouldn't persuade you to do anything... and Techpowerup.com does not condone the downloading or uploading of pirated warez and conversations about such are to remain forbidden. :p

You might just need to test the system with a different OS... even a Ubuntu X64 version would work.

i had Kubuntu on before i formatted. Was being a bitch though. Didn't let me use the OS after i put it on max settings... lol. And After i uninstalled it, it would move from the dual boot menu on startup.

ok, i installed Kubuntu 64bit and this is the TaskManager thingy:

I know you said you made sure Memory Remap was enabled in your BIOS but I still think there is a problem with it. It sounds to me like is actually disabled despite what it says. I think you should play with the memory related options to see if you can make the feature work again.

Have you looked on the Asus site to see if there is a new(er) BIOS available?

i've just updated the BIOS. But still shows 3326MB.

What do you want me to mess around with?

Just maybe try disabling the remap feature and booting then shutting down, enabling remap and reboot again.

I dont know to be honest but I blame that feature not being active like it should.

ok, just booted with it disabled, then again with it enabled. Only difference was that it showed 3328MB on the startup screen. Taskmanager still shows 3326MB though.

erm... ok. Well, I've just checked TaskManager and it says

Total - 4094
Cached - 2976
Free - 38

I really don't understand... Only things that have changed is a new monitor and graphics card...
