Please help. At my wit's end here. I've posted this before but never heard much, tried the few things that were suggested (BIOS update, chipset driver update, etc) and it just hasn't stopped.

My brand-new Asus TUF A15 (R7 7435HS, RTX 4060, 32gb DDR5-4800) runs absolutely fine when plugged in, high performance mode. Temps are well within the safe ranges for a gaming laptop, even when playing something demanding it never actually throttles.

However, I occasionally experience a forced hibernation due to a "critical thermal event" (according to Event Viewer) with a cited temperature of 328 Kelvin (55c) every single time. Every time it's happened, the message and temperature is the same. This only seems to happen if I start playing around with the boost settings in Armory Crate (or, more recently, G-helper) while the laptop is on battery, rather than plugged in. Especially when switching to "Turbo" mode when on battery, although it doesn't always cause this to happen.

55c is not a dangerous temperature for any component on the entire system except possibly the Battery, and I haven't been able to find a temperature sensor for that thing yet, so I doubt that's the cause.

Is this some kind of BIOS-baked feature to disallow boost mode while on battery? Is something playing up? I don't know. I've searched all over the web and found no answers for this specific issue, why it might be happening, or how to fix it. It's driving me crazy.
Here's a screenshot of all the "critical thermal event" hibernations that have happened since I bought it. I have no idea what \_TZ.THRM refers to. This is maddening.
And no, I'm not overclocking anything. When this happens it's usually from selecting "Turbo" mode in AC / G-helper while on battery, but it doesn't happen 100% of the time.

Taken from Reddit. Start with disabling hibernate.

Report this to Asus. This sounds like an actual ACPI table bug relating to ACPI-based thermistor reporting, which can only be fixed with a BIOS update. Again: please report this to Asus!

Do not read the _HOT value as a literal value.

To work around this problem: disable hibernation using powercfg.exe /hibernate off in a Command Prompt launched as Administrator.

This problem plagues all kinds of devices. See: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Noteb...-due-to-a-critical-thermal-event/td-p/9047100 -- where the issue was fixed via a BIOS setting (and should ideally properly be fixed with a BIOS update by the vendor (HP)).

Finally: Windows does Stupid Dumb Crap(tm) at various hours of the night, or when the system is idle. The amount of tweaking required to disable all this junk is quite large, so...

Also keep to one thread. Don’t make multiple threads for the same issue.

right, I'll start by disabling hibernate via elevated command prompt. I already disabled hibernate in power settings so this should hopefully fix it.
I also get what you mean about windows occasionally deciding to cosplay as CrapWare(TM) so I guess if something isn't being a problem most of the time it's best to just leave it.

I'm not sure about reporting it to ASUS. I mean, I probably should, but knowing Asus as a company, they probably won't care.

This is what came up. Does that mean it's "accepted" the command?

Yup it did reboot and test.

alrighty. I'll run it through a few tests tomorrow, if it comes up again I'll report to ASUS.
Also sorry for having more than one thread... it's just that this laptop cost me a significant sum of money and I was getting desperate trying to find a fix.

All good, no worries. Just makes it easier to help when it stays in one place lol.

So far, no more hibernates, and I've run it unplugged and swapped around G helper boost profiles a tonne, so hoping this fix holds. I'll let you know if it happens again though.
