Hi, been using my Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM for about 2 and a half years now and after cleaning it today i have noticed 2 lines at the top of the screen, they appear to line up with the toolbars and that on firefox and i do do alot of web browsing, do u think this might be burnt in ?
Here is a pic:

What happens when the screen get very dark in that area? Are the blue streaks still there?

Can't see it with a darker background, noticed it first in Far Cry2 as when u pan the camera around u can see the lines especially in the sky, i just choose that background to highlight it better.

did you try removing it?

do you mean this one?

try to minimize the brightness or the contrast
if it still appear maybe theres any err on the screen, could be the lcd or the backlit

No in the middle at the top there is 2 horizontal lines, they are not that easy to see in the pic.
Edit: thoes lines u point to are part of that background :P

I have the exact same burn-in on my monitor. Same lines in the same location (two horizontal lines in top left corner). I also use Firefox as my main browser. My monitor is an Acer P241W and is around 2-3 years old as well.

I tried running those dead/stuck-pixel programs and whatnot just for the hell of it and they did nothing. It's been like this for a few months now and nothing seems to fix it. The lines are visible during lighter backgrounds (usually light blues and browns), so its not and issue that I see all the time. It's still there though, and can be noticed when playing games.

I guess I'll just live with it until the monitor goes altogether, unless there's a fix of course.

Yea i just downloaded a burn-in fix program lol, but the way i see it if it took over 2 years to burn in it's gonna take a pretty long time to burn-out :P
Just in the process of upgrating to 3GB 580 sli as i was looking at going for a U3011 monitor, my main concern is it happening on that one after a while, maybe i should curb my forum trolling a bit :P

ooo :twitch:
first try to down the brightness and see does it still appear
if it still appear, it looks from pixel that aint turn off
btw does it appear since the first time you turn on the monitor or after several minutes?

Just turned the brightness all the way down and it's still noticable, i have turned the monitor off for a few mins and back on but the screen is still warm so maybe if i let it cool right down it might go away a bit.

burn in is permanent. image retention is temporary. if it's been there for 2 years you should live with it or start shopping for a new display :)

Had the monitor for that time but the lines have just appeared :P

you might have been able to prevent it if you cleaned your monitor more often. if it's burnt in there is nothing you can do.

I clean it once a week lol, and i didn't think burn-in had anything to do with dirt on the outside i thought it was displaying the same image for long periods, here is another pic, i thought they were in line with the title bar and stuff but they are not.

Just seems strange they just appeared today.

I downloaded that a bit ago, ill try it a bit and see how it goes thx.

sorry, it used to be free :(

apparently u can use it in 20 min bursts for free :P
Looks like i mivht have to sell one of my kidney's and get the 30"er sooner than i thought :)

LCDs do that? I've never kept one monitor long enough to have the problem.

it's rare but it's been known to happen.

Just hope this is my share of it and i don't get in on my £1200 one lol.

looks like blacklit bleeding. this thing can happen due to heat-cold cycle and possible blend in difuser plastic sheets. CCFL heats up and then cooled when off.

If it's burn in, and it does look like it, there's nothing you can do. All screens suffer from the problem (apart from CRT) although it's more common on older generation plasmas. You'll just have to live with it unless you have a 3yr warranty.

Seems different than a straight burn-in. But it can happen on LCDs although its rare most can sit with the same image on for weeks and not have any issue. If you can't get rid of it sell it and get something for it to put towards the new one.

Fresh turn on today and it's alot better, can just see the top line but hardly, screen is cold tho so i'll see when it warms up.
