Problem changing RTX 2060 firmware

Btw, just to let you know, this EVGA VBIOS also exists: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/222240/222240

You get a higher boost clock (1755MHz vs 1710, or 1680 on your card) and get a 10W increase, 170w vs 160w

If you want your card to run cooler, use this BIOS, its 7C lower than Stock, yet its faster than stock, (not quite as fast as the iGame one, i never seem to break the 8000 point mark with this BIOS, but runs a hell of a lot cooler, id say, if you want efficiency, use this one. The fans also stay at 0% unless the card hits 60C

PS: Same port layout as the iGame, so same rules apply, 2 bottom DP ports not working

I'll give the EVGA BIOS a try also, but since I run a water cooling setup, my temps are actually fairly good. I'm getting a solid 59° c under load.

Cool, let me know how you get on! It sucks having the PG161 board RTX cards, only a few firmwares to choose from!

Nice going for 59C under load, if you want performance, just go with the iGame VBIOS, the EVGA one is good if your cooling isn't the best, yet it gives a little bump from stock.

Ok so I decided to re-benchmark GTA V, and im honestly speechless...

Before with the MSI VBIOS, With V-Sync off I was struggling to keep stable 60fps 4K High settings.

With the iGame VBIOS, I am averaging double, 120fps! I'm actually sceptical, it is that much of an improvement!

Would you mind benchmarking GTA if you have a copy? Before and after? I'm not sure i'm getting the full picture, I was expecting an improvement...but wow

The title is misleading for those that don't know better.
You are NOT updating the Bios, you are changing it, this is risky and should be made clear it should only be done if the manufacturer recommends to do so OR you are willing to risk BRICKING YOUR CARD.

Thanks for the pointer @Caring1 . Do you know anyway that I can edit the title? I can't seem to find anything.

If you as the OP can't change it, then you could request a Mod do it, but I think a warning in the thread should suffice.

Edit: Title changed by T1 ;)

How to I benchmark in GTA V? I've tried the things suggested on Google, but I don't get the benchmark settings.

When you first launch GTA, go to Settings, Graphics Settings, it should say where the options are "Benchmark Test" or something, and you need to press Tab key to launch.

It's not a big deal if you can't do it, i'm just not believing my GTA FPS pretty much doubled with the iGame BIOS. Can't fault the BIOS so far!

Hmm, so I couldn't find benchmarking under GTA 5 graphics settings, so I ran Furmark and BasemarkGPU with some rather strange results. I'm running a stock setup with no overclock on the GPU. Here's my results:

Stock ROM:

Colorful ROM:

Furmark stock ROM:

It doesn't seem to be giving me that much of a boost, (or am I reading these result wrong?). One thing that I did notice was a 7°c increase in my GPU temps.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yep, same what I got without overclock.

Bare in mind, without an overclock you're not getting the 195w, I noticed it was hotter at stock, but didnt get any hotter overclocked (I got 7400 score Stock and 7500 iGame without overclock on 3DMark, but I saw a substantial improvement when attempting to overclock.

The EVGA BIOS should be a bit quicker without any overclocking.

I'd just like to add, this is my own findings in my own setup, your results may vary however I do feel confident if you overclock both Stock and iGame you will see a good improvement.

I guess we'll find out either way!

Can you provide links for the EVGA and iGame ROM's? Also, what settings are you using for your overclock?

Using your setting, I get a bit of a bump, going from 7596 using Benchmark GPU to 8244. My frame rate goes from an average of 76 FPS to 82 FPS. I'm going to find some time tomorrow to play with the settings,

Looks decent, not sure if its worth trying the EVGA one to compare?

I'm actually getting a lower score using the same benchmark as you :( I'm still getting a boost from original BIOS, I'm just wondering why it's not performing as good as yours...

Hey @LosSantosPro , I noticed that your driver version was newer that the one that I was using, so I decided to upgrade my nVidia drivers. Rerunning the Benchmark GPU utility, my numbers dropped to what you are getting:

overclock - 451 driver.jpg

Then I rolled back the driver to version 417 driver and I saw an increase in performance:

overclock - 417 driver.jpg

Digging through my files, I found the 442 version of the driver. After "updating" v. 417 to v 442, my performance jumped again to what I had originally:

overclock - 442 driver.jpg

Maybe you should try rolling back your drivers and see if it helps with your numbers. I'm going to start fiddling with my overclocking and see if I can find a sweet spot for performance.
