THanks for yout time, and hope so i ll find solution

That DVD drive works fine in IDE/Compatable mode on my G/F's GB P35-DS3L, why do you feel the need for SATA mode? You won't gain much of anything, the only reason I could see would be if you were wanting to run your HDD's in AHCI mode or RAID mode...

What are the rest of your options in the ATA COnfiguration spot? And the top On-Chip ATA(s) Operate Mode? Please list them.

I have no idea why i want it as Sata, i guess because thats the only way to plug in the dvd drive ???

Anyhow here is the option selections:

On-Chip ATA(s) Operate Mode: Legacy Mode / Native Mode
ATA Configuration: Disabled / P-ATA Only / S-ATA Only / P-ATA + S-ATA
S-ATA Keep Enabled: Yes / No
P-ATA Keep Enabled: Yes / No
P-ATA Channel Selection: Primary / Secondary / Both
Combined Mode Option: P-ATA 1st Channel / S-ATA 1st Channel
S-ATA Ports Definition: (When Legacy Mode) P0-Master/P1-Slave or P0-Slave/P1-Master
(When Native Mode) P0-3rd./p1-4th or P0-4th./P1-3rd.

Some on the options are not all the time available all the time tho

As I said before you can use your SATA DVD drive in IDE Compatability mode and there won't be any issues. This can confuse people, and did me at first with SATA HDD's and DVD drives, but IDE mode works at full speed for 150/300 (SATA I and II) drives, and is easier to work with due to improved compatability with older operating systems.

If anything with those settings leave them at default, if there's nothing wrong with it now, don't fix it....you won't get anything out of it. Unless you want to use AHCI or RAID on your HDDs, you'll see nothing useful from messing with the said settings for the DVD drive.

Well while it was on Ide mode (As it was for my previous drive) this drive wasnt recognized by windows:ohwell:

Any idea how i should set the options so this can work as sata ? :O

Have you tried checking Disk Management? (Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Mgt > Storage (Disk MGT) )

See if it's in there, see I had the issue the other way around on my old DFI board, if I ran SATA the DVD wouldn't allow bootloading...IDE was fine, that was till a revised BIOS came out that fixed the issue.

Time to dig deeper, I'm gonna need to know what you have beyond the DVD drive if you don't mind. You can fill out your system specs under UserCP, and/or post them here too. Really it should be plug and play with an SATA DVD drive, and these Samsungs have been the easiest I've ever dealt with. Are you using the JMicron SATA ports or the Intel SATA ports (assuming you're on an intel chipset board...)???

Nope it's not there

Well i set it up once, and it worked perfectly, but because i had problems with my MB Batery the settings reseted to default, and i cant recall what i exactly changed to work
Here is my pc
MB: MSI 865 Neo - V ..
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz Precsott @ 3059MHz
RAM: 3x256 DDR1 400Mhz
VGA: ATI Radeon 9550 / X1050 Series Memory Clock 195.8MHz Core Clock 249.8MHz
HDD: 80GB Maxtor
PSU: 450W
HDD: 80gb
ROM: DVD RW Samsung 22x Sata SHS223

An 865 chipset eh? Well that's a different ballgame...I had an Abit AS8-v, unfortunately I did not use an SATA DVD back then, just SATA HDD's, ran in Compatability Mode/IDE and had no issues with a SATA HDD + IDE DVDR.

What are the settings after a refresh?

--deleted part of post--

I'm kind of curious why it's not working anymore, but what IDE port's are you using? 1 or 2? What SATA Port(s) are you using? I believe 865's only had 2-4 SATA ports. That might help here too...definately interesting. I might have to research your MB to see what others are doing.

EDIT: Did a quick search, found setting to Legacy Mode and P-ATA Only, and moving the SATA connection to a different port should work.

Tryed with Legacy Mode, P-ATA Only, and S-ATA Keep Enabled to Yes so i can change the Definition Ports, but still didnt work with any of them :(

ps. Can we have msn chat might be easier

Did you try connecting the DVD to a different SATA port? I don't currently have msn installed, I do have gtalk installed...I can get that up and running if necessary.
