Hello, i have a problem with an ADATA HV320 external disk. It shows that it is plugged in but you cant go inside it. It is also flashin purple sometimes and i dont know what that is. I was looking in some manuals about that disk, but i only found blue and red light. Can someone please help me? Its a new disk.

If you are using windows, right click on the drive and try to format it in NTFS or exFAT.

If you are using a Unix-like system, you can use gparted for Linux or gpart for BSD to format the drive.

It is always better to buy a large USB stick because the connectors on external HDDs are often very fragile and external HDDs do not live that long for many people, they are also often dead if they fall on the floor, while USBs are much more robust.

Hello, i tried to do it but there is one little problem. The disk doesnt show in the file explorer but it shows in the section where you have all your hardware a printers, but you cant format in there. Anything else to try or should i take it back to the store for reclamation?

You know... At times I have to power on/off mine rarely though but sometimes the hard drives go to sleep? How would I fix that

Has it worked before? Or is it a new putchase?
I have an external drive that refuse to work when connected to the front usb, but work fine in any rear port. So, have you tried a different port?

It's a two dock and connected with my 5 port USB 3.0 hub. I mean doesn't bother me but maybe there is a setting I'm missing ah ha. The dock is about a year old

Calenhad it worked but we wanted to restore some things from my other disk and it stopped working after we manipulated with it. but we just reconnected it to a different usb. but my brother put it in a weird way where it was a little bit off the table and it wasnt on a flat surface.
