hey I usually can handle things like this but this one has me stumped...my computer was working fine and then tonight i turn it on and the expredd gate thing comes up like usual, i click enter OS and it goes to this screen that says "press DEL to enter Setup, press TAB to display BIOS POST message" and when i press DEL nothing happens!

this sucks

and when the express gate thing comes up and i click enter BIOS it does the same thing...

please, any ideas?

Using a USB keyboard? Try using a PS/2 adapter or keyboard.

Disconnect the USB devices and clear the CMOS, see if that helps. Try a different CMOS battery if clearing the CMOS don't work. If you're able to enter bios, and you don't use Express Gate you can disable it under the "Tools" tab. If Express Gate is not working properly you can reset it by disabling it, rebooting back into the bios and re-enabling. Clear user data as well.

wow, very weird i disconnected all USB devices and hit the reset button on the board and it worked

there is a high pitched scueal from the case like usual but when i pulled out the 5 UBS devices it got louder..not sure if maybe the devices were pushing the PSU just over the limit?

Im going to try starting it up over and over while adding back 1 usb devide at a time

thanks for your help guys

with my rig if i have any form of usb memory stick plugged in it wont boot, doesn't show anything dont even post. Fans all spin etc so i guess its fairly commonplace?

Same here with my rig . I left my camera plugged in once and was all f'ed up going nuts trying to figure out why the hell it would not boot up , Snatched the USB plug out and just like that all was fine .

i wonder if it to do with mobo's ability to boot from USB drives maybe because there not formatted for booting on it confuses the mobo?

its possible...i plugged my USB devices in one by one and it booted fine with all of them except my external HDD, and i have 11 usb devised cause I have a hub

so i think its less the ammount of USB devices and more that specific ones screw it up

maybe any type of external storage device..the only reason i doubt that theory at all is i keep my 1TB drive plugged in via USB 100% of the time on my other rig and it works fine but maybe its like you said and it only happens to computers with mobos that have the ability to boot to an external device

it was actually kindof funny, when i had my laptop drive plugged in with a HDD to USD adapter it booted but it took like 6 minutes..it was really starnge this computer has a 40 sec or less boot time too
