OK where to start...

I can connect to my wireless network without any problems, I have all the Xbox live ports open on my router. My router is a D-link DGL-4300 Wireless Gaming Router. I have no problems with it. When I connect my xbox with an Ethernet cable it connects fine, But when I try to use the wireless adapter it will connect to my network and then when I try to test the connection it takes a long time to complete then it says some services might be unavailable. It says I'm logged in but I cant join any friends online and the market place doesnt work. The status code I get is: 80072ee2. I've looked up the code on Xbox.com/support and NONE of their solutions WORK.

Please help.

Silly question, but you obviously have a GOLD account dont you?

Usually the genuine XBOX 360 Wireless Gaming Adapter is very painless to setup. Plug it into the 360's USB port, input you WEP security key (or whatever security you use) and your away

Could you possibly have a faulty wireless adapter? Do you have access to another that you could test?

I used to have a genuine MS wireless adapter, but I returned it and purchased a Netgear WGE111 Wireless Gaming Adapter instead and its great ;)

Mine was a bit of a pain to setup, but that was because the adaptor doesnt like connecting to hidden networks on first setup.

Once that was sorted it was no different to getting a laptop connected.

then I dont understand what the problem is then.

How far is the 360 to the router?

Whats the signal strength like?

80072ee2 is something to do with the 360 timing out on waiting for the Live server to respond.

Make sure your routers wireless isnt setup to limit what wireless devices can/cannot access, I know mine has such a feature

When you switched to the wireless adaptor from the wired connection, you changed all the open ports to point towards the wireless adaptors IP, correct?

make sure it isnt limiting mac addresses or anything

what i did was switch my router off for like 5mins..then turn it back on and i was on my way lol

The distacne from the router to the 360 is about 3 feet, they are more or less next to each other I dont have them connected via an ethernet cable because ALL the ethernet cable ports on my router are being used).

The Signal is 100%

I will look for that.

didnt know I need to do that. still not sure how.

how do I do that?

I found the statistics page and it seems to be having lots of errors and dropped packets.

tried port forwarding by any chance??

try moving it back some and see if it improves or gets worse,

i would check the wifi settings, specifically check to make sure the preamble is long, Fragmentation Threshold, and RTS Threshold are ok

also is the router set to b, g, or b+g, also are any optimizations turned on? like speedbooster, or range extender or anything like that, the best mode for compatibility is b+g with no optimizations on

also, you should check in your router what kind of chip is in the xbox360 wifi adapter [i googled it, and failed miserably] that would give you more info on its compatibility with your router, if they are both broadcom or both atheros they can use certain optimizations together, otherwise they will probably get hurt by trying to use them.

EDIT: thought of something else too, if your port forwarding to the xbox360 via its ip its got from the LAN port and you set that to a static ip on the router based on the MAC address, it would change on the wifi cuz that should have a different mac address.

well I seem to have fixed the problem by changing settings but I have no idea how I fixed it.

thanks guys for your time.

I think it might have been a speed booster thing I turned off.
