well, i just bought a ASUS ve208t 20" w/stero speaker built-in and not noticed there isn't any hdmi port. only dvi-d w/hdcp and i bought a hdmi to dvi-d converter but no sound.
so if i use :
av multi out cable(ps3) to a 3.5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA female and plug the 3.5mm jack to the audio port of my monitor. will there be sound coming out of my speaker??

spec for ve208t:
I/O Ports Signal Input : D-Sub, DVI-D
PC Audio Input : 3.5mm Mini-Jack <<< will it work for the ps3 with 3.5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA female adapter?

Yes. You can use the AV out while using the HDMI out. Just make sure to set the Audio in the settings to go out through AV and you are good to go.

Yep. I connected my PS3 to my Samsung Syncmaster Monitor that only had a DVI-D input and VGA input. I used a DVI-D to HDMI cable for video. I also got a .5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA female and used my cable that came with my PS3 (one with the Red,white, yellow cable) and connected it to the .5 mm jack and connected it to my speakers. Will work with your set up. Just like jeffrey159, just change the audio in the settings to something other than HDMI
