I recently had a strange issue with my PC while gaming the other night. While in middle of Starfield I heard this explosion along with seeing just a bright white flash come from bottom of mobo in case, above my PSU. My pc instantly shutdown and began to reboot but I was able to hit the shutoff switch before it fired back up. It was midnight here so I had to dig out my phone and immediately turned on my light (maybe 5 seconds tops) and opened my case up. I saw nothing on bottom left of mobo near reset buttons, CMOS, etc... and put my nose right above the PSU which faces fan up in case. I smelled nothing like burned electrical components that I was expecting. Since it was so late I just went to bed to deal with it the next day. While having dinner the next day I bring up the issue with my PC (got to lay groundwork with wife on possibly getting replacement parts, LOL) and that it literally exploded. At that time my daughter chimes in with "is that what that noise was, I could hear it thru my headphones in my room gaming", to my relief as that helps me even more with my NEED for parts.
Long story short, I took a look in my PSU and can see what looks to me like a blown capacitor and just wanted to get others feedback on this. I can't take it apart as I literally bought it 6 weeks ago so I presume I will be doing a warranty replacement. The power supply is: Corsair RM1000x and I have attached the best pic I could get with my phone. This one was to be the replacement for my old HX850 that died on me recently after nearly a decade of use, RIP. I thought I would have been OK with the new Corsair even though it wasn't an HX variant. I never buy parts from Bestbuy but I was too impatient to do without gaming, I knew better! My initial plan was to get an HX1000i so looks like I will just have to bite the bullet and have gaming withdrawals for the next several days.
I would also like to add that I was able to boot up my PC last night but only got into windows for maybe a minute before I shut it down as I was too scared to even run anything.
