Ok im looking to get a new PSU. Mine isnt modular and I suck at cable management (anyone wanna train a newb and save me some dough). I want modular PSU, but I was wondering how much of a negative it is having more that one 12v rail. Newegg only lists like 20 modular PSU with a single 12v rail. Half or those are like $150 or more and the other half are brands i've never heard of and would never trust. Can anyone recommend a good PSU that doesnt break the bank

honestly you can't save dough on a PSU. I have tried... it doesn't work.

A list of your system specifications would be a good place to start if you want help.

you have a hell of a psu and a pretty big case. IMO you should stick with that psu and learn how to do cable management. I know that there should be a guide around here, let me look for it.

EDIT: here it is http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=48836

Your PSU is great, your case is good, you shouldn't have that many problems.

On the CM 690 there is a section of the case designed for cable management, it should not be difficult to get some decent cable management going.

EDIT: Take a picture of what you are doing for cable management (and post it here), and maybe someone could help.

Two 12v rails is ok long as you have enough amps in each rail. Think a 600w 2 rail psu has around 18 amps in each 12v that is ok for most single gpu rigs. The psu manufactorers always put the atx plug & 4 pin cpu power through one rail & the 6pin pci-e connector on the other. Would be no good have both the cpu & gpu on the same rail.

Ok thats just beautiful, but how the hell do you get the sata cables behind the mobo, are you using double standoffs? #2 how do you get the mobo power from the PSU then around the tray and to the connector? Is there a hole cust somewhere behind the PSU and all the cables run behind the tray?

In the case just to the right of the PSU there should be a slot to wire the wires:

here is a picture: (the slot is circled in red.)

I saw the two before pictures and immediately thought, there's nothing different.

But then I scrolled down some and see, great job, it takes some time to wire like that from the start but it's well worth not having the hassle later.
