purchase decision did i do the right thing?

So i've got my current right as such:

amd 5000 black at 3.46Ghz
2 gigs ddr 1150 @ 1150Mhz
1 8800gts 512 775/1900/2100(mem)
asus m2n sli deluxe wifi

I purchased another 2 gigs of ddr2 1150 from patriot and another 8800gts 512, i figured the price was right and it would hold me over for the rest of the year into next when i'll build a new rig. Did i do the right thing??

I think you'll be fine, a dual core at 3.4 should be more than sufficient for most anything out there in gaming and such.I don't know what your plans are with this rig, is it benching? Gaming? Both? Video? Rendering?

In the end, you have a powerful rig now...it's going to get more powerful! I can't tell from your sys specs, but if going with 4GB of memory, you should consider an x64 OS..I actually like Vista Ult x64, good stuff imo.

I think you did the right thing, and I think you'll be able to keep that rig as-is for quite a while, as long as temps and stability are good, you should be set!

i've been at 3.46 stable for a while, it's stable at 3.6 i just can't control the temps, for some odd reason they get out of control(70+) no matter what so i'd have to upgrade to water. As far as other temps currently i hover at about 28 idle on the cpu, 37-40 load, my card goes from 38 to 55 max at 775Mhz. i've got a collermaster realpower 750 pro so that should work for power and yes i'm planning on 64bit that's why i got the extra 2 gigs of ram. So you're thinking i'll be able to stay in the game another year??
