GTX275 is about 20% faster than 5770, I would check 5770 prices. if you can get one less than $180, then there is no point getting GTX275. There is little point getting non DX11 cards now if you want your graphics card to last at least 2 years.

hmm tough to decide , so 5770 for future proof but its slower

or a gtx275 thats faster but will be useless in 2 years hmmmmmmmmmm

- the dx11 factor.

Will all games soon become dx11 based ? for now they will continue bringing out dx10 games for a while i can imagine. they still use dx9 these days

No, devs are not going to develop games which solely support DX11. Getting a non DX11 card is not a big disadvantage, but every so often devs will come out with a DX11 exclusive game and you will be shut off. I would go for 5770, never cared too much about slowness (I turn off all eyecandy a lot of the time).

Some of you may know i oblivorated my 9800gt , within the next couple of days i should be getting a new card . this is about as far as i can go budget wise at this point of time and i think it should do a good job with my e7500 ?

http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/6528/imageresize.jpg

Any advise ? should i spend $50 more and get the gtx260 896mb
will the 5770 be a big performance increase over my 9800gt

for future proof, you better choose 5770, why ?

because all HD 5000 series support DX 11, not like geforce GTX 200 series that's still stuck in DX 10.

or... you can wait for next GTS 450 (cheaper than GTX 480 and 470)

DX10 is already dropped. all new games that support DX10, are only supporting it as the cut back version of DX11 the games run on natively.

If all you want is FPS and not quality, why not run everything in DX9?

mate of mine has that same 5770 , doesnt perform that well in crysis with the cpu he has which is similar to mine. Id rather try something else .

iv been reeding around and everybody seems to say the gtx performs better , not to mention looks better.

i dc about dx11 i played crysis warhead in dx9 on my 9800gt it doesnt bother me. I just want it to be maxed out @ 1080p 16xaa , anyway i talk to much but just to end i really dont care if i have to upgrade later on down the track for this "dx11" for now games run in dx10 and they will for a long while. I want the hands down fastest card . which ?

It depends on the model... the newest revisions of the GTX260 core 216 are still sub $270-$290 AUD

Whilst the 5770 is around $180 AUD ... if you can afford a gtx 260 core 216.. I'd say it'd be better to go with 5770 crossfire as it out performs a single 5870 apparently... and will only cost you 50-60 AUD more than a gtx 260 .. so around $360 ...

@ your PSU: That seems like a generic brand which is not good..

GTX 275: Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 40 Amps

Your one only has 13A ... so I'm not too sure gonna need someone who knows their PSU's well to see if your current can handle.. but imo its probably not enough.

If you're able to list your whole system specs.. it would help us greatly on determining these kinds of things especially if you're overclocking.
