Hello guys, i have a question here. via power plan setting i want to set my maximum processor state to max 99%, to prevent turbo clock. so what if i set my speedshift on Throttlestop to 0? so will Throttlestop force my CPU to work at its maximum state / 100%?

powercfg /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_PROCESSOR PERFBOOSTMODE 0
powercfg /SETDCVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_PROCESSOR PERFBOOSTMODE 0

if you set speedshift to 0 it will maximize your cpu clock speed which means, on the contrary youre gonna use your cpu with turbo at higher frequency. theres two options you can do to prevent turbo, either you can go to power settings/change plan settings/advanced settings/processor power management and then set your hightest processor state as %99 or %98, whichever prevents the turbo, you can just see your frequency at task manager, if %99 doesnt work try 98 cuz mine was like that.

and the other option is more usefull, which i was also using too, a reg file which provides you an option about how would you like to use your turbo boost, you can just choose disable from there, it will be shown in the same place as i told above

@dekunthlux - You are already using ThrottleStop. Why not toggle the Disable Turbo box to turn Turbo Boost on and off?

This seems easier than editing the registry or editing the Windows power plan. If you want to get complicated, set up two ThrottleStop profiles. One profile with turbo boost enabled and one with turbo boost disabled. Then you can add a couple of keyboard shortcuts so you can easily toggle Turbo Boost on or off with a simple key press.

A Speed Shift EPP setting of 0 tells the CPU to run at maximum speed. The actual maximum speed will be limited if turbo boost is disabled. You can also limit the maximum speed by reducing the Speed Shift Max value in the TPL window.

Do some testing with ThrottleStop. Run something simple like a 1 Thread TS Bench test to load the CPU. While the CPU is loaded, play around with all of these settings and watch to see what speed your CPU runs at.
