Question about which memory i need

I bought a HP Z420, the memory that comes with it is 4GB ECC UDDR3. My other Memory does not work with it, so was wondering will this work(Unbuffered ECC DIMMs )

Just to be clear, and i understand this, you said it has to be ECC Memory, the ones i am looking to buy says ECC Server Memory, and that's fine to buy for the HP Z420?

Yes. ECC memory both unbuffered (UDIMM / PC3-1XXXX-E) or registered (RDIMM / PC3-1XXXX-R) as long as you're running the stock Z420 hardware (Xeon, C600 chipset).

Just an update, the new ram works(8GB), but now the 4GB ram that came with the computer does not work anymore. Doesn't matter slot i put it in, I'm getting a 1701 924 training error DIMM 3 or 5 , etc CPU0 or CPU1 memory error. I'm just going to buy more of the 8GB ones i guess, maybe i can't mix 4GB and 8GB on this computer.

Hey guys, was curious, is this the correct speed, i have all the same 3 memory sticks, just different name for one. Interesting i paid 10 bucks for 1 memory stick and he sent two haha. I'm sure that wasn't a mistake, but it was nice for him to do , now i have 24GB.
