R600 is doomed, according to wiki

No one is "doomed" lets just wait till the card is released. When it comes right down to it
very few people buy these "high end " cards anyways. AMD makes most of its money in other area's . These cards are for bragging rights only.

The apocalypse of video cards will come May 14, 2007.

Let all ATI fans cross their fingers.

*crosses fingers* I may have a 8800gts now but I still have my X1950pro and ATI fanboism

are you willing to sell it in a few weeks?

The x1950pro that is.

Whats the problem?

Interesting, but hard to accept until the R600 is released. ATI ( I will NEVER put AMD in front of Radeon - ever.) must of spent so long on releasing the R600 for a reason, the last I heard ATI just delayed the release (again) because they wanted to implement even more VGPU optimisations into the hardware, not that there was anything wrong with it. Given that knowledge, it wouldnt surprise me if once retail boards come out, when it comes to DX10 at least, the R600 mops the floor with the G80. As I aid however, until the tools are available to properly test, its all speculation of how each GPU will perform.

Don't believe the Wiki.
I would say don't believe the Wikipedia (Wiki is a piece of software created by the Wikimedia Foundation) on stated facts that are uncited. Check the reference link too, to make sure it's authentic.

Funny sidenote on Wikipedia: A swedish computer magazine said that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that is reliable.

crysis demo...i want that demo xD

that was what was released around the same time this thread was started. I have a hard time believing the high end midrange card beats the 768MB 8800GTX in all these scores (dont get me wrong, Im an ATI fanboy and I want this to be true, its just hard for me to believe)

as everyone here has stated, its best to wait til next week, when the cards come out (not the HD 2900XTX mind you) and we see how it goes then.

If its delayed like Ket says, thats cool, but damn them, ATI better get on the ball and get them out.

According to this Nvidia's drivers 'still' don't take full advantage of the hardware
But ATI's drivers 'do' take full advantage of the hardware :D

What? You mean that ATI employs programmers that know how to program drivers for the ATI cards, whereas Nvidia has hardware that the programmers dont know how to use? What an own-goal for Nvidia. Better fire your drivers programmers, and try to headhunt the ones from ATI.

Personally I think this is Friggin Hilarious.... We're all talking about a card that probably noone is going to buy..At least not at release... So what do you guys do when "your" manufacturer is getting their Butts kicked by the Competition? Myself, I buy the Fastest card "In my budget" at that particular time... I CERTAINLY dont pay the same money for a lesser card just because I "Like" that company...WTF... They are NOT going to do anything but take you money and laugh... Nuts I tell you,, Nuts

Okay first off I honestly think that too many people dont realise the following:
-NDA: As in you are not allowed to disclose any details of a prereleased product, images for GPUs mean nothing anyways so they can be excluded. However, numbers like benchmarks from company A will give away everything to company B, company B will know company A's weakness and do stuff like:

1. Pay more companies to create games/programs optimized for company B's strongpoint, which is company A's weakness
2. B will exploit as much as possible.

Therfore in conclusion, TPU members, NONE of these benchmarks are real, none of the details are real, most of them are Guesses, some of which are very accurate and based off logical conclusions.
-thou who believes wikipedia should realise someone who saw the news just posted it. Even fanboism exists on wiki man, I could change it to "HD2900XT outperforms two 8800GTXs in SLI, scoring 1337,696,696 in 3D Marks 06
-Crysis Demo by no means has been released yet. They are just trying to sound cool, also, to make it even more seemingly dodgy, Crysis Will not run that slow by any means, you would expect those results with two X1900s in crossfire. The game hasnt even been released as an alpha, let alone beta, or a demo. Same story as the R600.
-By now all those reviewers should be already in jail, but are they?!

I can clearly recall real directx9 cards sucking ass with directx8 stuff. Both companies have secrets. The first being Nvidia by making a kick ass directx9 card and calling it directx10. Then there's ATi that is making a directx10 card that's not so hot with dx9 (but clearly better) than the x1950xtx. All of the proof will be laid to rest once it comes out that ATi simply crushes Nvidia with dx10.
