Hi, I'm planning on OCing my ATI Radeon 9200 128MB. The only problems are:
#1. I'm a noob at this OCing stuff.
#2. I'm worried that my video card will melt because it doesn't have a fan.
#3. I have no idea how to OC... yeah.... lol

Anyways, will my radeon 9200 do fine without a fan? It seems to be extremely hot whenever I play games. Expecially when I'm playing halo. I fried my finger when i touched a metal part of my radeon.
Here are my comp specs:

Manufacturer: MDG (Custom PC. Sorta like Dell, although more expensive.)
Mobo: Intel 865GBFL
Processor: P4 2.8Ghz 533FSB
HDD: WD 160GB 7200Rpm (I added a 2inch fan under it since it gets super hot.)
Drive:
A) Toshiba DVD-R/RW writer. 40X read, up to 24X Write for CD's, 4X for DVD-R/RW, and 16X DVD read
B) LG HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8320B CD-RW. 32X 10X 40X
Video Card(s): Radeon 9200 GOLD 128MB (AGP, Always used with Catalyst 5.8 v6.14.10.6561 Softmod drivers.) Intel Exteme Graphics 2 64MB (Intergrated, Drivers installed but not used.)
Sound: SoundMAX Intergrated 5.1 audio.
Power: Turbo Link ATX Switching power supply. 115/230V~,7A/4A, 50-60Hz.
Memory: 512MB DDR

Btw, I always leave my CPU case open so heat can ecape easier. I only have 2 fans so far. 1 for my HD and the other is the heatsink fan for my mobo. Is it safe to OC my Radeon?

Fans are cheap, Computer equipment is not. Buy some fans.

A slot fan is about 7 dollars. (occupy a pci slot space and exhausts but does not plug into a pci slot)
I used them to draw a breeze by a video card without a cooling fan on it. (older ones like my 9200se in my intel rig.)

Get a Temperature monitoring program for the Card if you can find one to support it.

However, if it burns your fingers on the touch test, it is wayyyy to hot.
Even a 40 or an 80 mm added to provide extra cooling on the card itself will help.

if you said that its hot then its not safe to oc.9200 had its own performance, after oc it just gain a little.that's risky.its better not to oc.

The gain from the OC is so small that unless you're bored and passing time don't bother. I did it on a regular 9200 with a lapped P3 HSF and played with volt modding. Got a whopping 3 extra fps on aqua mark! Ran stable on some games too. If you don't mind the weird things that pop up in games like C.O.D. it can be interesting too. Who knew there were things that resemble leaves blowing in the wind? Well we all need hobbies right? ;)
