Both drives are WD blacks but both are different reversions should i have any problem raid them together?

Alot of people will say you should try and use HDD's with the same firmware revision but thats bollocks I've had WD HDD's from different years and different revisions working happily in raid0 for years the only thing you need to make sure of is that they are the same size ie: 1TB + 1TB and same cache size

Thanks i'm not sure what they have changed from drive to drive the new drive is a lot lighter will speed test them both before creating a RAID0.

Hi there,
The WD Black is a very good drive but it was designed mostly for gaming and other demanding apps. For a RAID – I would suggest you to check some drives that were specifically designed for RAID environment. They have RAID specific built-in features (like TLER – helps the drive recover faster in case of read/write error and the drive doesn’t drop off the RAID) that the other hard drives don’t have.
But if you already own the 2 Blacks they should work fine as long as they have the same capacity, cache size and RPM as Athlonite is suggesting.
Greets,
Mighty Miro
