pinchy: its partly about the image too. and not the file image, reputation/appeal image.
A forum full of people with nice looking sigs, or people with blurry MS paint images... if we slowly make the forum look better (Emphasis on slowly) then it remains appealing.

I'm sure there *is* a small percentage of users who are annoyed at our sig rules and dont post here/sign up because of it. we've had a few people with 5MB+ animated avatars turn up, and they werent too happy about having to turn them off (although they did, which was nice of em)

Look at it this way: its not a neccesity, its just something a section of the userbase is requesting, like a new forum section or more moderators.

I know where your coming from but what I am trying to say is that its not really that bad @ 19KB. I am just speaking from what I am looking at. As you can see, I dont have an image as my sig and I can admit that because of it, it doesnt affect me as much. Like your sig, there is a noticeable difference in the two in sharpness alone, but what I am trying to say is that isnt your current one good enough? I mean we can all read it and make out to what its saying, its not "blurry" until you compare it to the better one.

Anyway its just what I think. Everyone is obv going to think differently so it will come down to the amount of people on each side .

BTW add an option to the poll for "I dont care" lol.
