Hey all, I bought a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB about a month or two ago and just saw this RAPID mode article for the 840 Pro and that it has been available for the EVO for some time now.

So the question is, should I enable it?

Are there any downsides?

I believe the 840EVO uses TLC which I think doesn't last as long as MLC (like what is in the 840 Pro). Can someone confirm this? So would enabling RAPID reduce the lifespan of my SSD significantly?

yes if you have plenty of ram enable it. from what i have read it uses ram to cache iops and make the drive faster. it almost doubled my 840 pro speeds.
