13% 1 star reviews on Amazon pointing out classic poor quality Razer design and 10.16ms of latency wireless / 4.22ms wired latency wired. They are beaten by the stock controllers and a majority of cheap $30 Chinese made controllers.

Typical Razzerio garbaggio.... whodathunkkit :D

Also wondering if they got permission from or had to pay Marvel Studios to use the "Wolverine" name, and if that's why these tois are soooo damned expensive ?

I believe they only need permission if they use his likeness or show something like his name in marvel owned font. Marvel does not own the rights to the name wolverine in all contexts and use cases.

In addition, Wolverine is generic name that refers to an animal. What this means is that Marvel has to prove that the name isn't being used generically and incorporates marvel IP or trademarks. From what I can tell of the controller, it doesn't appear to bear fonts, styling, or likenesses owned by Marvel. It would be hard to argue in court that one could confuse that controller as Marvel licensed.

Razer has always named their products after animals, usually venomous or dangerous ones.

This will turn grimey real quick for some sweaty folk.

you can't trademark an animal name otherwise marvel studios would be sued by wolverine shoes and other companies & schools (Michigan U) with the wolverine name that predate them by decades
you can trademark an image of a wolverine you created (or any animal) or a character design

If they are like their Stormtrooper lookalikes, they will miss every time. No good for gamers.
