Realtek HD Audio Codec Driver Updated for 2016 - Version 2.80 Now Available

Realtek have recently updated their High Definition Audio drivers. Version 2.80 of the drivers brings some overdue improvements to the table, at least when it comes to the time frame of their release: Windows 10 is now supported, and there are some mysterious "customizations" added. Codecs ALC255, ALC235 and ALC867 where also added, and support for Windows 8.1 was improved.

Running realtek driver (Supreme FX) on windows 8.1, I'm good, all working fine for me so I just leave it as is.

I wish Realtek would release a high end pcie soundcard, becouse of long life support.
Driver support from other Brand like Creative, Asus and co. are really shitty

I mean, Realtek is just a semiconductor, they make audio chips and other IC's, but what wonders me is why no one takes their very much capable audio chips and install them on their own soundcards with top of the line components. Sure motherboards use way better components for audio these days, but with some extras on top of the Realtek drivers, it could be a game changer.

Creative drivers are fine now. No problems unlike ASUS...

Seconds RTL doesn't have PCIE codec, all of them use UAA/HDA bus.

I haven't really encountered any problems since the X-Fi cards that I had. And with SB Z, absolutely no issues I can remember.

Win 10 drivers for X-FI are top notch, the only issue with Z's are latency for ASIO users. It is not suitable for guitar playing, singing ETC... there for they released that Rx card (Audigy 4) aimed at that task...

But as I said... Realtek have not presented a fully AI codec like CMI did, I guess really it is because of patents... only VIA, CMI, Lynx, and Creative (maybe skipped some from the PRO audio makers witch custom Xilinx's) have made PCI/PCIe interfaced cards that are sporting via i2s proper DAC/ADC solutions.

Well If you ever will play some guitar, it will drive you mad if use some PC for software effects or recording and the sound sounds delayed after you played a note... the software audio stack remains software...

Considering the fact about the amount people who actually buy sound cards still and are on budget... this fact kind of spoils the party...

Get something that doesn't require drivers. For a stereo signal I'm using an ODAC.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 with the Creative sound chip, what a disaster this chip is, I would gladly trade it for a Realtek sound chip.
