Realtek HD keeps locking-up my pc

kki.jpg

This is slot 3. Other one was Slot 1
Thanks! :D

looks like you got some standard ram, nothing fancy. Which is good, as it means you dont have to set anything manually, its got the numbers right.

at 400MHz (800 DDR, aka PC6400) yours runs with timings of 5-5-5-15 at 1.8V - and from your previous post, its running at 400 (aka 800 DDR) 5-5-5-15.

1.8V is standard/default for DDR2 ram, so thats going to be set right as well.

basically we can rule your ram out as the cause here, unless its outright faulty (which doesnt seem very likely, considering your problems go away when the drivers arent installed)

Righto then. Its gota be the driver. Because like i said, when its uninstalled, my pc works like it should. Games dont freeze, nothing. Prefect. I install a driver and BAM! Sometime soon the sound stutters, gota hit reset.

Borderlands, machinarium, L4D2 demo and some other games are just not fun without sound :(
Hope we can eventually fix it. Thanks aloottt! :D :respect:

where are you located? USA? UK? Antarctica? we can try and find you something suitable online.

personally i suggest Cmedia based soundcards, they're in everything from cheapo cards to high end equipment, but they have one advantage - their driver team never quits. i've got a soundcard here from a windows 98 machine, and they've released windows 7 drivers for it :)

this is the one i have in my spare parts

C-media 8738 chipset which has drivers all the way from windows 2000 to windows 7

its cheap, its compatible, and its going to be slightly better sounding than most onboard solutions.

Ive been googling for the past 4 days...starting to give up hope :( i dont get why something would work fine one day, and then the next, it just stops working? frigin....:/

sometimes it happens ,turn off hardware accelaration .
I guess it was something like this for xp
Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Devices
then the Audio-tab - Sound playback and choose Advanced then Performance. And pull the slider there to the Off

Its ok everyone. I finally decided I should move on to Windows 7. XP is mature, and has alot to it, but i honestly cannot be bothered with these constant minor quibbles.

Delete or lock this post. Thanks alot guys, especially Mussel, youve been an absolute legend just for trying to help. Thanks! :D:nutkick::cool:
