Recommendation for plex streaming device for TV?

In one of the Plex support articles it mentions the following compatible TV streaming devices for plex:

Which one would you recommend? I have a Sony TV (BRAVIA KD65X8505) with plex not being supported in its smart apps library. So hoping something from the above list can fill that cavity.

I use a 2nd gen Chromecast. (not sure I'd recommend it though) It's ok but using the plex app on my iPhone to kick it off seems flaky sometimes.

The Roku Plex app has a high wife acceptance factor over here. The app itself bugs often (after a more recent Plex update?), requiring a reboot of the Roku.

You should be able to download the plex app through the TV menu. If you aren't streaming 4k it should be fine. However if 4k is a must, even with a great connection you may run into issues though.

I was told to get shield as well to fix said issue if it happens.

That's what Plex does. It is the responsibility of the server, not target device, to transcode the content into something the target device can run if it doesn't have native support for the codec used.

I would suggest a Roku, I've used one for years and I'm happy with it. I would stay away from any kind of "streaming sticks" however, even Rokus. You're gonna want something a little nicer and more robust.

Oh, well in that case, you may be better served by one of those Android TV boxes. The upside there is you can also use it for other things... like... running playstation games with ePSXe or something. I'll defer to others though on which specific box to get, because I don't know much about them... probably anything should be fine though, even my crappy phone can handle Plex.

ROKU 4, might want one with a RJ45 on it though, you can get them pretty dam cheap second hand too.
