The discrete graphics card market for high-end notebooks is expected to see a big turn around with Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell ready to adopt AMD's latest discrete graphics solution for their notebooks. This will increase AMD's market share to over 50% in the second quarter this year, according to a report from DigiTimes. In 2007, AMD's proportion of the discrete notebook GPU market was less than 20%-30% due to vendor concerns that Intel's relationships would change following the acquisition of ATI, and so were unwilling to adopt Intel and ATI combinations for their notebooks. Additionally, uncertainty over the Radeon HD 2000 series also impacted vendor and consumer confidence. However, in the second quarter of this year, around 55-60% of vendors' high-end notebooks will adopt AMD's M82 and M86 discrete GPUs due to their advantages in low power consumption and cost over NVIDIA's 9P, 9M and 9E notebook solutions. This can only be good for AMD/ATI if true.

50% nice!! In my dream world, AMD would be 50% over Intel CPU, and ATI would be 50% over NVIDIA - That way I could buy whatever product I want without feeling bad for the little guy!

What is this, good news for AMD? About time if you ask me.

Well done AMD!

It's about time we saw a HD3000 series GPU into Mobility Radeon.

YES good news for amd.

The ATI purchase seems like AMD's saving grace atm while they sort the phenoms out. There is some method in their madness:laugh: nice job AMD.:toast:

Dang, all the AMD/ATI articles that have been showing up lately have been VERY positivel!! This is exactly what was needed for the industry. :toast:

very good news for amd!!! im looking forward to seeing hd3xxx in our lappys!

In only took them a little while. The whole ATI purchase was a smart move, but not without consequence, as we all witnessed with various news posts and such. Im glad to see AMD moving up in this segment. Their Phenoms should be better with the newest revisions coming out and also, the next gen of their quad core chips should be great performers, from all early numbers and such.

thats to be expected though..i mean spending billions on a company that wasnt bringing in alot at the time and being in finacial situtaion yourself between intel stomping them and a 5 billion dollar morgan stanely loan looking them in the face youd expect it would take them a little time to recover but i think theyll do good now outsource their cards in dells etc...then hopefully theyll be making enough profit to pay their bills and in a few years i think theyll be back on their feet...but this trick isnt gonna happen soon this is more like a first step learn to walk b4 they run type of thing.

Yep, ever since their athlons and gave Intel a run for their money and started to get lazy afterwards. I think they'll learn to get back on par with Intel hopefully that way everyone can enjoy competitive prices:toast:

Good news for AMD....FINALLY!!:toast:
