"Yesterday we removed CTF and Pilot Hunter as separate playlists in the PC version of Titanfall [...] CTF and Pilot Hunter have not been widely used modes on the PC version. Players trying to access these modes had overlong wait times to find other users and it was making for a poor experience. We want to make sure that not only is there compelling content in the playlists we offer, but that the experience of joining a match works well. We’re tracking what playlists players are choosing, and we’re going to continue to look at unpopular playlists and add new ones on both platforms.
[...] We will still rotate Pilot Hunter and CTF in for future playlists as well as adding new riffs on game types that Respawn is currently working on. Our goal is to have a wide variety of playlists that are popular and changing. That said, we will not remove modes from Private Matches, so there will always be the option to select them for competitive and personal play. Thanks for your understanding as we try to make Titanfall a better experience for everyone."

CTF and Pilot Hunter are no longer available, besides in the random queue.

The Go To Store Page link when you try to queue up for CTF doesn't actually lead anywhere either.

Feels good not having paid for this game, especially when we know who published it. Maybe people will learn their lesson about EA published games now? Nah, probably not...

Wow, it's EA but wow. The low keeps getting lower.

Hope the article's author can get his money back.

I think the lack of dedicated servers is another killer for this game. Remember what happened to MW2...

First BF4 now this. No longer will I defend EA.

..I don't get it.

EA and Respawn took the huge leap to introduce a game completely devoid of single player modes. Whatever your feelings, that's ballsy for any company. In order to placate people about the continuing support for their game, they hosted a huge beta. People play the game for free, see what's good, and then theoretically buy the game. While doing this, Respawn gets great PR and a free pool of bug testers.

That was an excellent start. They follow this up with a gigantic sound library, because apparently they couldn't trust people to have a decent computer. Now they're admitting that the popularity is waning, but instead of juicing up the content they jettison the under-performers?

Consider me massively unimpressed. In 2010 I had the ability to find servers for UT2k4. If Respawn can't even maintain enough of a consumer base less than a year after launch I'm waiting for the official word from EA that Titanfall is getting a yearly launch, with server support for previous years disappearing 6 months after the new game is released.

By the way, can somebody else here drop a set of balls (or lady balls as appropriate)? Everybody complains and bemoans EA for doing crappy things, but ten minutes later they're back on the EA train because the next game they want has been released. Boycott Origin if you want to do something. I've been Origin free ever since Crysis 2, and haven't missed too much. Three weeks after a game launches all of the cut-scenes are available on youtube. It isn't like EA has released anything revolutionary in the last decade (that you can't also get on Steam or other platforms). Heck, you might even be able to skip the crap they squeeze out (I'm looking at you Simcity, and your "absolutely necessary, impossible to function without" online DRM).

EA isn't truly evil, they don't deserve threats, but that doesn't mean you have to open your wallets for them. Don't spend money on their products, and convince other people not to spend money. It does hurt the development studios, but after they get bought by EA there's a counter installed in the lobby indicating how many days are left before they are gutted and incorporated into the EA corporate structure. Better the quick cut of an under performing game, rather than the slow rot of forced mediocrity.

I agree. You been around Techpowerup a while now and you know I'm the definition of the "Unpopular Opinion Penguin" Meme. I have defended EA for YEARS on things I believed they were in the right on. Today I tuck my tail between my legs and want to give TPU a big fat apology. I was wrong about EA. Maybe not in the past on certain subjects but over all I in fact was wrong. EA has done more to destroy gaming for me personally this past year than ET did in 1984. I had ET.....it was a fun game for me at the time. BF4 I haven't started in a month I bet. I paid 100 bucks for a game I never play now. Sick of it.

So with ALL that being said it will be a while before EA gets me to buy another game. Not going to fall for their BS twice.

Honestly I'm so upset with DICE Ive been thinking about writing a letter to them. Yeah I turned into my grandfather but damn it I'm pissed.

Preach on, I'm in the same boat with BF4 everything BF has gone backwards since BC2
You think I would have learned after spending 100$ on BF3 and not touching it after the second expansion:banghead:
The real warning for me to not buy titanfail was a 40gb game that is 38gb of audio

Oh and just wait for DICE's next product
Its a payday rip off and it is god awful

From what i hear, the game lacked much choice of game types anyway. I know a lot of friends who were looking forward to Respawn/EA adding more game types to the game like titan vs titan mode or something. Sad story, having played the beta I wasnt overly too keen on the game, it just felt like an OK game of sorts. While the friends in my clan jumped out of their seats to buy the game on day one, im glad i didnt give in to all the hype and part with my cash

I had no respect for Respawn since they said in an interview with regards to maps:

We aren't making any pretty colourful maps in the jungle with lots of beauty, because we don't think our playerbase can handle it.

they were most likely addressing the console community at the time of the interview, if they added in all the bells and whistles then the fps would start tanking.

I guess since Respawn are made up mainly of the people who made the CoD games that its hard to break the mold and move away from the chains that restricted them to making games the 'CoD way'... Unless EA happened - which i guess i this case did.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind this concept? Granted I don't play this game, so I'm not sure how many modes it has or how much these really were played. But I kind of wish BF4 cut the fat a bit, right now there's just not enough people (or people interested) in supporting all the game modes on a multitude of server sizes. And doing some condensing would do wonders into getting some non-64 player servers going (seems thats the only option as it sits). But like said thats a different game, sounds like here it's pissing off a lot of people.

I honestly like Titan Fall. If we should be angry it should be at respawn not EA they didnt develop it. Not that I defend anything EA but just saying. I do get how people feel though but to be honest I didnt buy the game to spend 7 hours a day playing it. That seems more like a BF4 thing than a Titan Fall day. I play a few rounds of titan fall when im feeling board or inbetween games. To be fair every FPS multiplayer gets boring a few months after launch. some people stuck with UT thousands didnt the same could be said about CoD or CS:X its all the same story. look at crysis wars (lol) I think you should enjoy the game and it should be engaging for the money you spend. but to spend $60+ on a multiplayer game and not know what you are getting into is a whole different story.

Tribes 2 had lots of niche maps and modes, made for a nice assortment when you get bored. Of course you could host private servers and there wasn't a matchmaking system. Games were better back then I think.

I've been debating on buying this game, but i'm contempt with Hawken. I hear the combat in hawken is better anyways

To be totally honest with you I didn't play CTF or Pilot hunter, I mostly play Attrition, Last Titan Standing, or Hardpoint domination, so I couldn't care less :p

Sucks for people who prefer those game modes though, are they going to be available for private servers?

Didn't buy this game as I didn't think the hype was worth £50

I don't have any knowledge on the game but by the comments I'm frigging glad!

Glad I didn't buy Bf4 premium and waste £80 on all the shit I'd hardly use. And the amount of users has decreased loads in the last few months, also haven't played much up until this last week!

I haven't played BF4 in about a month, I am waiting till it gets patched, if it does get patched...

I switched to Hawken and its a lot of fun for free game, the starter mech is all you really need anyway.

EA? Allowing private servers? That's crazy talk! Get back in line!

You know what, I confused the term private server with private matches, which have been available since the previous update, perhaps I should rephrase my question, are these modes going to be available for private matches?

I can't check since all my PCs are currently being used for the 10th WCG challenge.

Thanks. :ohwell:

Private servers have been available in the game in beta form as of the previous patch. :ohwell:

Have you played game on PC? :wtf:

Oh my, I didn't know that. That is particularly strange. I still refuse to buy any game EA publishes since ME3 though, so I'm afraid I won't ever play it.

I edited my post above, please read the update, it's too early in the morning and haven't had my cup of coffee yet, I had a brain frat, sorry :(

Still, I wonder if people can still create private matches using these modes, I'll check once the challenge is over later tonight :)

From what I can tell the only way to get CTF is by queuing for the random playlist.

Amen, brother! Preach it!!

Private servers, admins, controllable by telnet/putty.... See a hacker? Vote-kick a hacker. Don't like the map? Make your own! Hate the physics? Make V2! Want bigger, more kick-ass, BFGs? Deployable?!!? Make em, add em, play em.

*sigh* the good ole days...

I miss the olden days. Multiplayer today feels like bowling with bumpers.
