Galax = Gainward = Palit iirc, all the same company.

I still feel like brits get better warranty support and return policies than we do. But then again, maybe that's still EU-centric thinking from 7 years ago.
We definitely have consumer rights. But I'm not worried about the card. Tbh, it's the bigger companies I distrust.

Edit... The glamorous ones like Asus.

Well, I got jebaited by Asus last time, so forget the RMA policy - I don't even trust their hard product anymore  plus their TUF 4070 Ti kinda sucks

If we go off the parent company, Palit might be the bigger company actually. Gainward has an enigmatic warranty policy though, reminds me of Sapphire. "Contact your initial place of purchase for all warranty inquiries"

It's a Gainward card. Never bought from them, always seemed the lesser AIB. But tbh, with a warranty, and bought from UK's biggest etailer, I'm cool about it.

This one.

Gainward has pretty good RMA track record actually, so it's a safe bet.
This is data from Swiss retailer

Awesome! Which 4070 Ti? I'm sure you can get by, but the combination of it being Nvidia, gaming at 1440p, and your RAM kit methinks a 5800X3D would be an even bigger jump in performance for you than most others.

This is the first time I've been able to run a game without the fans ever coming on. Loving it.

Yeah I have never seen than fans spin up outside of gaming for me, and my Room temp is always 30C with AC ON :)

Well, it's in the PC. I'll not see the improvements on the potato that is PUBG (my CPU hurts on that one). But, I might load up Cyberpunk and see how it runs. No coil whine, fans seem to be extremely quiet.

I'll hold judgement until I've used it properly...

That's a nice looking cooler. Reminds me of EVGA ACX/iCX from years past.

I didn't think I would be this enamored with the Eagle design. Between the Vision (now AERO) and new Eagle cards, Gigabyte is seriously getting good at making sleek non-gamery cards.

The other AIBs could maybe learn a thing a two from Gigabyte and XFX. Not sure what Zotac was thinking with their hotel slipper-shaped Ada cards, do they really expect to conquer the Asian market by traumatizing Asians everywhere?

Nice!, I always thought the 48" was a bit big. I have to downscale it to 32" 1440p in order to play super competitively. It's definitely immersive for any simulator.

I think a few more inches away would work great! Does anyone want to share their fancyzones layout?

Looks like the 48" fits your desk perfectly, at one point I almost got the gigabyte 48" oled gaming monitor (it was down to $799 last year!) But it wouldn't have fit my desk, so for me, 42" was just the perfect size.

I use Corsair 12VHPWR cable, I think getting the cable from PSU maker would be better option than Cablemod

Unfortunately this would have been the right call. I picked up the Cablemod one today and I'm not very impressed. The sleeving is kinda cheap (plasticky synthetic, Techflex-like) and definitely neither their regular nor premium paracord material. Connectors are also weirdly loose and cheap-feeling? Biggest problem is that it's a very different shade of white compared to the Corsair paracord fare I have and also the colour of my case, very cold in colour temp, so it's just unbearable and I would much rather just keep using the Nvidia adapter.

I could place an order for the Corsair one (which is paracord) but it would still have to be on Amazon.com. Dunno if I want to open everything up to go through that headache again. Now, I gotta figure out how to return this thing cross-border

Yeah Cablemod's quality is highly questionable IMO, there are reports about Cablemod 8pins and 16pins adapters melting too.

Probably safer to just use the included adaptor

531.18 being a little funky, NV Container going through all my cores one at a time at full load like it's corecycler

Think it was because I tried out RTX VSR (wasn't impressed), then turned it off but did not reboot. Rebooted and things look fine again. I've only found a single google result for this one:

Luckily I didn't catch this bug, I would turn off all monitoring services (Afterburner, HWinfo, Rivatuner, etc...) before updating drivers

try and figure out a way to major in something in demand, like computer science / electrician / nursing - they pay a lot and allow for a different lifestyle.

I think nvidia said a hotfix will be out soon anyway, so most people should probably just wait for that driver.

Apparently they say Telemetry (contained in NV Container) is getting stuck when exiting a game. Maybe disabling driver telemetry under experimental NVCleanstall tweaks makes a difference.

In any case, went back to 528.49 for now - I just wanted to see what RTX VSR was about.

I was wondering this myself, maybe W1zz clean installer for Nvidia drivers fixes Nvidia's own issue here

Looks like NV Container process is being used utilized on E-cores and CPU power consumption is raised by 3W, doesn't seem too big a problem to me

E-cores coming in clutch

General recommendation on 5800X3D is to disable preferred cores, so load gets juggled around onto every core so leaving it isn't a good idea. Fortunately it seems easy to fix, just delete the game telemetry .dll
