Russia account registrations on TPU?

Is TPU no longer allowing Russians to register and post? The reason I ask is a Russian posted on another tech site asking for advice and I recommended this site seeing how there's a decent amount of eastern Europeans on here that I figured could help the guy.

Possibly, @W1zzard will answer your inquiry.

If anyone has a problem registering on TPU they should click the "here" link and email their concern/question to the staff.
That way it can be looked into by the staff for possible solutions.

It's definitely not a nationality ban. But where an IP or VPN is linked to multiple duplicate spammer accounts, that can result in a ban for that IP/VPN (I think). Russia is similar to China with it's internet restrictions, to the point it collaborates with the Great Firewall activities. Also, in Russia, only state approved VPN's can be legally used. These ones, for example are all banned: ExpressVPN, NordVPN, IPVanish VPN, Hola VPN, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited and Speedify VPN. I think that whole issue means a lot of VPN/IP's from Russia can be viewed as 'dubious' by spam filters or webmasters.

This has nothing to do with recent Russia events, it's just a major spam source. There's about a dozen other countries listed, too, and all VPNs/proxies and all of TOR.

This is for registration specifically. Once you are registered you can login and use the forums from any location.

i couldnt register on hexus for exactly the same reason. at the time my country was in bad standing and glory or something.

I got that too with a proxy, seems some pricks used it to spam and it was banned. But then I switched to a different address and it worked. I use a local proxy to boost my speed a bit, otherwise it takes ages to load any website, a connection from my house to the proxy (and have it contact the server) in the city is faster than from my house to -wherever the server is located-.

But still nothing can top the message I got from another forum -which I won't name because I know other users here are part of- that said my account registration was rejected for "using a whore's name", literally, it said that :roll:

that's peak internet moment, account doesn't matter, it was funny heh

Just a reminder, once you are registered you can use any connection/proxy/VPN/TOR to use TPU. Only registration is blocked
