I have an rx 580 and for some reason, on the odd occasion, the screen starts to flicker black, then goes back to the actual screen. When I restart or turn off then turn back on everything is fine. My settings are turned to the max htz for my monitor, task manager doesn't flicker, and I have done a safe boot and turned off the two things that windows says to turn off. Im not sure what's wrong. Can anyone help

Post a photo of that flickering. Sounds like 'display timeout'.

Try to use another cable for the monitor. If its DisplayPort, make sure its a VESA-certified cable.

Check the event log for Display driver warnings and errors.

Scan the PC for malware, and make sure the PC interior is clean.

Check if all fans are working, and monitor temperatures with software like GPU-Z or HWMonitor.

Download CrystalDiskInfo and check the health status of your drives.

Try to uninstall AMD drivers, perform a cleanup with DDU from safe mode, and then instll the latest driver.

My computer has no malware threats
All fans are working and temps are fine
My drives are fine.

Might this be a windows issue or what.

Display output random flickering is most likely related to the graphics card or monitor.

Driver, cable, wrong settings, GPU or monitor going bad.

If the issue appears with the latest drivers, try previous versions. Use DDU and AMD Cleanup Utility to clean the drivers.

Try to play around with the settings in the monitor's OSD, AMD drivers (enable GPU scaling, Alternate DVI operational mode), and try to underclock the GPU from WattMan.

You don't update with DDU, you perform a cleanup of driver leftovers.

Watch the video for a reference.

From Safe mode, run DDU, pick AMD and select "Clean and restart".

From what I can tell, this is an utter failure of the video card. On an LG CX OLED, with 580, 1920x1080 works great all day. Anything higher, 1440, etc, and the TV starts flickering and flashing horribly and eventually the video drivers will crash. I tried two different high end brands of HDMI 2.1 cables. Both had the same result.

I hooked up an nvidia 2060 super and it could do every resolution perfectly first try
