I like the name. AMD Radeon Rage X Fury. It's a hand full, but has a lot of history in it. AMD Radeon Rage X Fury Maxx for a dual GPU card would be a bit of an overkill

Well, Polaris 10 aka RX480 did in fact devalue existing R9 390X and GTX 980 cards quite dramatically, so, if you had to sell before mentioned cards, that was indeed the time to do it. When I bought it, like half a year before, GTX 980 was like 650€. When 300€ RX480 was released with performance of GTX 980/R9 390X, how much do you think my 650€ GTX 980 was still worth? So, technically speaking, he wasn't wrong. It's just a matter of how you look at the situation. You apparently looked at it through the lens of performance, I did through the lens of value.

Not at all was he wrong like you say.
I swapped out 1 r9 390 for two 480s in a lower power budget ,twice the GPU for the same power and also less money the 390 was349 quid the 480s 220 quid each that's win right there and while not every game uses crossfire most can and I swapped for folding power efficiency mostly so It was all win for me.

The prices dropped significantly shortly after 1070 was released on 10-th of June. Look for yourself:

There were no major price drops when RX 480 and GTX 1060 were released.

Wccftech overhyped the cards power consumption and performance to the sky, please, don't defend them and/or give them free links.

GTX 1070 and GTX 980 aren't even in the same category... Besides, 400€ for GTX 980 which is essentially old tech at that point and GTX 1060 and RX480, new cards, same category, for less. You're comparing apples to coconuts...

I am sure @RejZoR referred to the resale value of 980 & 290-390(X) that are in the same lvl of performace to RX480, not the new ones' price.

Exactly. The moment GTX 1060 and RX 480 were released, GTX 980 and R9 390X lost basically half of its value because there were brand new cards released with same performance for half the price. Something unlikely to happen to RX 480 with such extent when RX 580 gets released, because it's basically the same card. It'll lose some value, but not nearly as much.

That's a arguable statement in that it's pretty close i can get mine above the score for 2x980 in sli timespy scores but would admit those can oc too so can likely better my score clocked.

Wasn't talking about 2x GPU performance. Honestly just a tech theory for me nowadays, I would only do it if I'd have too much money, but that's not gonna happen I guess.

I think the final name could be "RX Vega X" and "RX Vega" for the stripped down part with defective shaders, similar to Fury X and Fury.
