Sabrent Shows Off Apex X21 Destroyer Card, a Behemoth Multi-SSD Array Offering 168 TB Storage

Do people not realize this will never come to market and is just a PR stunt?
Exactly. It's not something even the richest, silliest consumer would be interested in and even as an SMB enterprise user it's just red flags in every way.

If I was trying to undercut the big storage vendors, I'd homebrew an all-flash server using enterprise-grade storage and it would be tiered for sure - There's absolutely no way a single array needs to be maxiumum performance all the time over its entire capacity (and I have serious doubts that Apex X21 controller would ever get close to managing such a feat, too).

You either want higest reasonable reliability/endurance, or you want the lowest cost/TB crap you can find and engineer in massive redundancy. Sabrent PCIe Gen4 consumer SSDs satisfy neither option!

Since Modern boards have Multiple M2 slots you could buy 2 NV2 4TB and have 8TB of RAID 0 storage running at 6000+ MB/s. for $440. As far as these add in cards go I will be looking for WD AN1500 drives to get around $149 for the 1 TB as I plan on putting 4TB drives in one of those too. In testing Forspoken on my array that gave the best load times with Direct Storage.

Definitely one for the E-Peen but I wonder how many would actually buy it??

Yea, lots of folks can barely afford to pay their utility bills & put food on the table, but sure, lets encourage them to go & blow $10K on an extremely niche product that really has no practical applications in real world use for the average consumer, except for those with moar money than brains, and/or those simply seeking to up their e-peen....

I'll take two, Raid O those bitches.
:) :D :p

Or buy a Nimbus 100tb SSD for $40k and a second as backup. No one wants high capacity SSDs for speed.

I have bought 32 of these, I really need them urgently, I am working on minecraft with 32K resolution and the usb memory I use does not help me.

@ArcanisGK507
E-E-E-E-ATX motherboards ain't cheap but I'm sure you've budgeted them in.
