i have been looking at gettign some new HDD's to replace my 4 X samsung 500 gigs and i am looking at getting one of samsungs new HD640JJ drives (640 gig), there are no reviews online i can find so i was wondering if anyone has one of these drives and could give me a quick rundown on how the preform, noise/heat/read/right/seek ect, otherwise i think i will eventualy get 5 X 750gig samsungs drives

I'm guessing that the 640 are made with 320 Platters. Just the the WD6400AAKS... Anyways I dont think you'll see a great difference changing drives. I'd personally would go with the 750GB version, 750GB, 32MB cache, pretty silent and fast!

thanks qwertz, im on the 750gb side as well, and yes the 640gb do have 320gb platters, but still im not quite too sure what to get

The 640GB uses 320GB platters, but the 750GB uses three 333GB platters (250GB is disabled) so there isn't a drastic difference in speed. I bought the 750 a week ago and it's excellent. Very quiet, runs cool, and is FAST. I'm sure the 640 will be of the same quality, so go with whichever you prefer.
