My concern would be how mSATA is wider than M.2. The motherboard could have capacitors there that forbid installation. Because it raises the height, it could also hit cards (e.g. graphic cards) installed above it. If clearance isn't an issue, it should work. M.2 natively supports SATA so what you're buying is basically just a pin converter.

TL;DR: it should work if it fits and nothing hits it.

Might be better off buying a PCI Express card with an mSATA slot though. Will be more expensive but shouldn't have clearance issues.

i think i have enough clearance between the pci-e slot. i have gigabyte x99 gaming 5 mobo

I think you need to use the M2_10G connector because the M2_WIFI doesn't give any indication that it supports SATA. If you use M2_10G it will disable SATA Express and SATA3 4/5 connectors.

Remember, you have to think about clearance in both the width and how far it will extend from the motherboard. M.2 cards usually just barely miss cards installed in surrounding PCIE slots. With an mSATA connector on top, it is almost guaranteed to hit. The PCIE slot above it will, therefore, have to remain empty.

90% sure it won't fit. Your picture works fantastic for overlaying:

It hits the top PCIe slot as well as the connector for locking cards in. Better off buying a mSATA -> PCIE card.

We'll see if fits or not i just bought an m.2 adaptor and 2.5" adaptor for back up in case it hit something on the mobo..

I added a picture to my post, it definitely will not fit. mSATA is too wide to fit between slots.
