Hey, I have a Sapphire X800 GTO2 (not the Dual DVI ViVo, it has one DVI and one VGA, no RAGE chip) which I unlocked following this site's article a long time ago, and am very happy with the results. The card runs fine, has a full-fledged R480 and 1.6ns Samsung GDDR3, running cool with an AC ATI5 silencer at 585/600 (completely stable)... I want to flash it to a BBA X850 XT PE PCI-E 256MB bios on winflash which I got off this site ... are these cards/bioses compatible? Can I be sure that this "ATI X850 XT PE (PCI-E) 256 MB | Nov 8th 2004 10:17 AM | Nov 29th 2004 9:04 AM | 540 / 590 Samsung 1.6" bios isn't the Dual DVI XT PE?

I want to do this so I can use my card in an X850 CrossFire system.. the current bios still reads it as an X800 GTO. Please no comments on my choice of X850 Xfire, I know all the downsides to 1st gen CrossFire, that's not the topic at hand.

Before I click the program button I want some assurance. Am I A-OK? I can't see any incompatibilites at all.. this is one of the first gen X800 GTO2's with the red PCB (not the Dual DVI ViVo), it came with a 400/490 @ 12p R480 bios, it's not one of the wierd ones with an already unlocked R430 bios or w/e.

If there is another X850 XT PE bios compatible with my X800 GTO2 (Not the Dual DVI + ViVo) that is better?

With 1xVGA/1xDVI you can't flash dual DVI X850XT PE BIOS (you can flash but the result will be black screen). X850XT PE PCI-E for 1xVGA/1xDVI officially DOESN'T exist. But I have modded a dual DVI X850XT PE BIOS for 1xVGA/1xDVI and non VIVO. Here you are download link: http://www.savefile.com/projects/841504
The utility also contains X850XT non VIVO 1xVGA/1xDVI BIOS. The X850XT PE BIOS will work for you but please give us some feedback about the results after the flashing. Please also to read the Flash Instructions file before to ask "why the utility doesn't boot?".

When you flash it using my utility don't forget to uninstall and install again the drivers. Because you then you will hace completely new hardware :D . BBA X850XP PE (non VIVO and 1xVGA/1xDVI).

Success

Okay, got the files and will try this later today once I get home.

I will double check my board for the PCB P/N and mosfets but I don't forsee a problem since, like I said, this is one of the original series GTO2's (red PCB) with samsung 1.6ns GDDR3, an R480 (both confirmed when I replaced HS/F) and power connector. Since I can reach about 590/620 stable, and about 585/600 without artifacts I think my card has the 8 mosfets but not sure. Thanks again.

Don't worry because these cards are real X850XT's with one little difference - 1xVGA/1xDVI instead dual DVI. Reaching 585/600MHz you will have real X850XT PE. With Silencer on it problems with the heat are not expected. The BIOSes are tested and they will work ;) .

Should I uninstall before or after I flash it?

Thank you, it worked flawlessly... and now i've got a full-fledged ATI branded X850 XT P.E... almost ;)
