Sapphire X800 Pro VIVO flash problem

Hi, I recently have tried to flash my X800 Pro VIVO with X800XT bios but windows doesn't seem to detect it as a X800XT, instead a X800GT. In ATI tool I see my core and memory clocks are 499.50 but only 12 pipelines are open, what did i do wrong?

PS check attatched image, sorry about the white on the bottom, kinda did the screenshot in a hurry. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

i got the exact same problem... got a club 3d x800 pro vivo, tried flashing it to ati x800XT and it found a x800GT  after reboot, then i flashed it to the modified x800 pro vivo (16 pipelines) at least it found the right driver but still no 16 pipelines :banghead:

i used the winflash thingy could that be the problem?

Regards

i've heard it was because of the R423 core which if i understand has the laser cut pipes (not sure but just something to think about) does it have laser cuts because i don't want to take off my video card heatsink to find out.

To unlock the pipes YOU HAVE to connect the bridges. And think that your problem is that you used a bad bios(AGP/PCIe). Do you have PCIe or AGP card?
Try to read the article at TechPowerUp very carefuly first and then try to do mod like this.

So i have to take the heatsink off and solder or something to connect the circuit board wire thingy's? By the way it's a PCI-E and i've read the article over and over. ATITools has a E at the end of subrate fuses, is this bad?

E's in the fuses almost always mean a no go on hardd or soft mod (not always but mostly) And yes you have to connect the bidges, check the mod page and it will show you where.

Screw that, i'm not gonna risk my video card just for 4 pixel pipelines, it's fast as it is and overclocked quite a bit as well.

You can still overclock, the r423s are easily on par with the r480s, i can break 6k in 3dmark05 on mine @560/540.

There is almost no risk when you want to connect that bridge. If you have some hardware experience you should try it. 4 more pipes = 25% more performance :)

Do you have a link to a site that will walk me through the process of doing the mod, i really wouldn't wanna screw it up. (i'm not the greatest solderer in the world but i could do it probably.)

the link above will explain the hard mod; even though its an agp card the steps still applies, here is a page of other articles dealing with various mods http://www.techpowerup.com/articles

What part, how do i bypass the laser cut without screwing up my card, my computer detects it as X800GT with 12pixel pipelines still, i know how to flash it, i need to know how to connect the wires and some pictures of it.

there is no wires to connect, did you read through the article? the "laser cut" is shown in the giant picture posted on the first page and the steps are thoroughly explained on what is needed to connect the bridge or "laser cut".

In order to see if you have the laser cut you need to remove your cooler and check the GPU, use 91% or 99% alcohol (you can get this at a pharmacy) to clean of the the thermal paste.

Yes, but has it been done before successfully, i'm ordering an arctic cooler and probably will be performing the mod (if i decide to) then. how large are the wires? Is there a large risk of shorting out my card?

I understand how to find it i just need to know how to CORRECTLY bridge those two, i've heard of a conductive pen. Where can i buy one of these? Can they be found at a radio shack?

its not wires but on the gpu part of the pcb look at pics of your card without the cooler on and this will give you a better idea of what i mean. I don't have links for pics but google your card and you should find reviews of your card with the cooler removed. I just installed an the ATI silencer 5.2 and couldn't be happier, it lowered my temps tp 32idle 56load even overclocked.

I didn't need to connect laser cuts so offhand i am not sure where to buy perhaps radio shack or other electronics specialty store. I doubt circuit city or best buy would stock it but maybe an online retailer might have what you need too.

Cool, i'm gonna get the ATI Silencer 4 Rev. 2 but i don't mean wires, i just don't know what to call them, but i hope i can perform the mod or get it to work. In percentages how likely am i to fry my card? (i'm not a computer n00b)

make sure its the rev 5.2 as the 4 version had issues with fan noises, unless your card only supports rev 4 but i am pretty sure the 5.2 will fit your model.

I haven't read of anybody frying their card the worst is that it just doesn't unlock the pipes, i think it is even safer than a bios flash cause i have read lots of post on people's cards not working at all after bios flashing.

Hmm. Well the Arctic cooler 5 says it only fits R430 cores and mine is a R423 so i might just get Silencer 4 or look around for people that have used it on R423's.

i have the r423 and it works great 5.2 revision is meant to fit PCI/E only where the 4 is made to fit both agp and pci/e x800 series cards.
