Sapphire X800GTO2 still modable?

Hi there, im new here. *waves*

Heres the thing, i've been wanting to buy a partially new computer for a while now...
I got everything else worked out, except for the graphics card.
I know there's been a bit of a fuzz because of the Sapphire X800GTO2 and the Connect3D X800GTO.

Lateley, there's been mostly negative response due to those cards, as in a way of them being core-locked.

However, i read in a newsletter over att Sapphiretech.com that they would be shipping another load of X800GTO2's to the resellers.
Here's a small quote of the newsletter:

"Responding to customer demand, Sapphire Technology Limited, the industry-leading supplier of graphics accelerators, has just announced extended availability of its industry acclaimed Radeon X800GTO series including the much sought after enthusiasts’ special edition RADEON X800GTO2."

This sounds good, right?
One thing i'm concerned about is that the actual cards might be pre-locked from manufacturer. Could this be possible?
I read somewhere that the GTO2 always would be unlocked and ready-to-mod.
Can somone verify this?

If that's the case, i saw a local Swedish netstore offering a new load of GTO2-cards, they had 50-99 in stock, so i thought i'd grab one right away. IF, and only IF they arent locked.

the prices of other higher end x850 cards have dropped a mile over the last two weeks.. the gto2 cos of demand and the price drops of other real x850 cards isnt quite the bargain it was..

i think the Sapphire gto2 is a bios crippled x850 xt pe card fitted with a single slot cooler.. its pretty much guaranteed to unlock and clock up to pe speeds or nearly pe speeds.. but as i say.. check the prices of the real x850 cards i saw one the other day at pretty much the same price as the Sapphire gto2.. the lower end x1800 cards are pretty cheap now as well..
