Is there a difference between cables that advertise themselves as SATA cables and a SATA II/III cables?

I managed to get two 32gb SSDs for $60 a few days ago, I have a whole bunch of old sata cables around but I want to make sure I won't be bottlenecking myself.

Could not say my self but i did run in to issue's running large arrays with cables over 2 feet.

I highly doubt there's any difference. SATA aren't like CAT where you have shielding and twists/feet. I suppose it is possible that a shielded CAT cable exists but it's not likely to get much interference with less than 3 feet of cable. As AsRock said, the best advice is to use as short of cables as possible.

Some info and a quote from the Serial ATA International Organization:

Quote from the FAQ:

"Q9: Does SATA 6Gb/s require different connectors and cables to support the higher
transfer speed?"

"A9: The same cables and connectors used for current SATA 1.5 and SATA 3.0 Gb/s
implementations can be used to connect SATA 6Gb/s devices, although SATA-IO recommends
quality components be selected to ensure data integrity and robust operation at the faster SATA
6Gb/s transfer rate. Keeping the existing SATA connector form factor enables SATA 6Gb/s to
be designed into the same cost-conscious hardware architectures while minimizing
infrastructure changes."

When I set up the drives I am going to use two cheep ones I got with motherboards over the years. I hope I don't have to buy any, I have not bought a sata cable in my life yet and the idea of paying $6 for a single cable makes me feel like I am getting kicked in the balls. :nutkick:
