I will install a Silverstone PF240 ARGB watercooler within the next days, but my ASUS Z170 Deluxe Board has no RGB header. I could mount a RGB controller but I don't like blinking lights and only want to set up the colours once.
Is ist possible to set the RGB light once (for example with a USB-adapter) via software and then run the cooler without an active rgb controller?

Certainly possible, but would probrably just keep doing it's default color pattern if not actively controlled somehow.
Unless you can actually change what this default pattern would be, that's what I'd expect it to do.

Others with setups using RGB may know of a way to do what you're asking for.

Thank you. I have also second computer with an ASUS Z270A Board with Aura RGB Headers. I could try to set the lights up with this Mainboard and then mount it on the Z170 Deluxe

AFAIK, the PF240 comes with a tiny ARGB controller in the box. Just mount it somewhere and use that to control the RGB on the cooler. You can then just use that controller to set the color you want and forget it. I don't see the problem in having the ARGB controller in the case, just tuck it away somewhere and forget about it.
