Sup all, hope you are doing well. Title describes the problem, here are the details:

Router: D-link DIR615 (bought second-hand years ago, came flashed with DD-WRT, don't know which version)

What I do (watched a youtube video):

Tab "Basic setup":

- disable DCHP
- change name of the router
- assign IP address that will not be reached (something like 192.168.0.252)

Tab "Wireless"-> Basic settings. See picture below.

Then I go to tab "Wireless security" and choose which channel and a security certificate and that's it. At what point do I enter the name of the network it has to repeat?? Which tab? which setting?

What I am missing here? Thank you in advance for the time spent to help out.

First thing...update the device.

Second, what is the intended use? See below for optimum use based on device internals.

Third, what revision is device? This can matter, as different features are available based on the chipset/radio and memory installed, and features are called different names based on radio/chipset.

Revision is D2, but I don't see it listed in the downloads. There is "D" only. Intended use is as a wi fi repeater. No cable, just to pick up the network signal and boost it. It only has to support a few smart phones, so anything below 70mbs is just fine for the job. I don't want to run a cable to it for access point. I only need a booster of the existing network.

Looks like D1, D2, D3, and D4 use the same firmware. Use the webupgrade .bin

I'll be away from here for most of the day, while I'm working. But, the new update might be more helpful than me!

OK, thanks a lot. I @work now, but I will try this in the weekend. First, try to update and then select a different mode: Repeater Bridge instead of just Repeater, both options show in the drop down menu.

Physical Interface is the network you want to repeat. Create a virtual interface for the repeaters wifi.
Not in this case. Ralink/MediaTek does not need VAP, or creates it behind the scenes, without admin intervention
