location is important to know, not for legal reasons, but the hw/channels used which will vary between N.A./EU/Asia.

you can easily do long distant wireless, the "gated" community where i am, is using wireless directional antennas to connect the cams from homes to the security company,
and some are +5km away.

Thank you everyone for all the feedback. I will check with the legalities before making any decision.

I recommend you simply call your ISP and ask them, what is the best way you can share your connection with your neighbor across the street. They will (should) either help with suggestions, or tell you it violates the terms of your contract with them.
