Should I get a new mouse mat? Are gaming mat/pads worth it?

I don't even have a mat. just use the surface f the desk.

I did that before I got my mouse pad, but I had started to flake away the vinyl coating stuff they put on cheap chipboard desks lol, hence the mouse pad :)

blimey how much did you use your mouse????

although looking at it mine is starting to go a different colour, like sandy instead of "mahogany".

I use my mouse a lot :) On the bottom of my mouse, I can see parts of the feet have gone completely smooth (mouse feet are not flat lol). Desk is about a year old too :P Did the same thing to my old one as well.

my mouse is a cheap £3.50 sweex mouse. I need a new mouse.

Either that or a G5 there both good :toast:

Technically its only $30, lol. but see what you mean. If I didnt have a wrist one know and felt I needed one, I would prob spend the extra on the "gaming" one but seeing as I already have a comfy one there is prob not a lot of point.
I dont suppose even a $100 mouse mat would make me any better at online multiplayer. :(

Exactly, your hand isn't physically that accurate, its like having a 3000 dpi mouse vs 1000 dpi mouse, lets get real, name one person you know that can move a mouse in even 1/1000th of an inch on demand... Not going to happen, although I will admit you can notice a difference between a cheap 300dpi and a 800-1000 dpi, there is no sense with the larger number.

So what you are getting is just a really smooth surface for the mouse to track better on?

You'll see a bigger difference with those Qpad things to stick to the bottom of your mouse than you will by getting a new moust mat. I figures out why the wrist rest is so uncomfortable, it's too tall. It's about twice as tall as the speed link, and the gel isn't as "soft", so it takes a lot more pressure to make a "dent" in it for your wrist.

On payday I'll be getting a new mouse mat lol.

Oh, and this thing's f***ing huge, and I hardly use any of it.

I saw these when I was looking at the mats:

But thought they were just replacement ones.

Do they actually make a difference? And do they stick on ontop of mouse pads or instead of them. I would have thought they would just fall off over time. :ohwell:

I think you have to replace them, but they'll use proper adhesive so they won't fall off.

My dads MX510 has some of those on them, and no matter what surface he puts his mouse on it's really smooth. I really don't see the actual "gaming surface" being anything to do with it, but more to do with the pads and how smoother they make the mouse.

My only problem is that mine is so damn small. Run out of room alot in jet fights...

I have a few different gaming mats

Razer brand wise i have 2 of there gaming pads
- Razer Mantis Control
- Razer Destructor

The is a noticeable difference between normal mouse pad and a gaming pad.
mainly the responsiveness of the mouse. a good mouse pad designed for gaming will not increase your gaming ability's but they will contribute to experience of playing the game. (its the same with gaming in general. a pro gamer with crappy gear can always pwn a utter n00b with high end gear)

ehh sorry for rambling a little there xD

btw you can buy the wrist pad on its own :P (I has one I scored at a LAN)
