Should I get a PCI Wireless adapter or should I make it wired?

I ordered a Netis 4322 ADSL modem + WiFi router recently. My WiFi adapter can't provide anything usable upstairs. The PC is downstairs and I share the internet. I thought of getting a much cheaper no-modem no-adsl wifi router one and putting it upstairs and physically hooking it to the current (no wifi) router downstairs, but then I calculated that it would cost roughly the same and would just be more cumbersome. I heard good things about this one and also needed a backup for my ageing TP-Link one. Can't wait for it to arrive. Fingers crossed.

need to be careful with this. a lot of the inexpensive wifi routers wont just act like an AP. so you wind up double NATing which is a bad thing. pretty much everyone sells stand alone APs that are designed to do exactly what you are trying. most also act as a repeater. or bridge. often they are marketed as a range extender.

theres also the option of larger antennas on the wifi router or ap.

So you don't do multiplayer gaming or file transfers on this machine? Is this like a PC just for browsing? If this is the case then wireless should be perfectly fine.

This particular one can act as a modem, router AP etc, and I have only read positive feedback from most users. This one apparently has better reach and stability than most popular brands. I haven't used it yet, so can't claim anything. It has reached my nearest hub and hopefully I"ll get it tomorrow. I currently have a super-lagging ADSL connection which is preventing me from playing pvp in warface and sometimes even pve. So I'm getting a new fiber line soon and the new router has WAN ports for both ADSL and Ethernet. It pretty much checks all the boxes, at least on paper. Let's see.

OK the router came in today and I did some tests. It is AWESOME! The signal doesn't drop anywhere in the ground floor, stays steady when I'm walking through the stairs behind walls, works in all the rooms upstairs and on the roof. The signal bars do seem to drop a little but there's no disconnection etc. I have just changed the wifi channel and hope the interference will drop. All in all, quite happy with this purchase.
