Should I sell my 8800gtx and get 2 8800gt???

The title says it all. I reckon that I will have to fork over like $60-80 to get 2 cards but the performance should be better than a single 8800GTX. I game or at least plan to game when I am back from school during Christmas break at 2560x1600. Isn't there a refresh G92 for 8800gtx coming out soon? VR-zone reviewed 8800gt vs. 8800gtx at 2560x1600 still show commanding lead by the gtx version. What to do what to do?

I never did like the concept of dual cards, it always has seemed buggy to me. If I were you, I'd be selling the 8800GTX and get myself a good powerful HD 2900XT with 1GB of GDDR4.

Of course, that's because I'm what you call a "fanboy"

. A much more logical decision would be to stick with the 8800GTX, for stability and performance.

Either way, you should be fine

Personally I would wait for the "ultimate" single card solution, again like Zek I am not a fan of dual card solutions, too many factors involved, 40-60% of 2 cards performance on average means 40-60% of one cards value wasted IMO, but thats just my opinion.

The 9800 series is due out around Christmas, maybe not on shelves tho in any real quantities until Jan 2008, the GTX is reputed to be at least twice as quick as the Current 8800Ultra (the specs would suggest that is possible)with the GTS not far behind. It is fairly safe to say, if all the RV670 and 9800 rumours are true (and I am not suggesting they are all true) then ATi will not have any offerings for some months that will come within spitting distance performance wise of these cards.

Chill out, this is a legitimate discussion, not a "lets all flame the AMD man" day.

I'd go with RV670 for the features. DX10.1 does look awful nice, as does UVD and the like. Then again, NVIDIA has consistently taken the crown at higher resolutions, especially with their high-end cards.

Just a reminder folks, ATI option is a placebo so do not vote for it, hahaha. No offense to ATI fans but I waited for the 2900 series for 6+ months and was truly disappointed. So keep voting and I like the idea of waiting for the 9800 series (Nvidia). I am gaming on 8600M GT right now and it's disgusting. Cannot even get decent fps at 1440x900 on my laptop.

I would wait and see what ATI is going to come to the table with, but if you want the GT sell your GTX and get 1 GT cuz it should be the same or lil better and you'll have some cash in your pocket

Just save your money and save your time until the next gen cards come out later. How you could be thinking of 'slow' performance with an 8800GTX is a bit mind-boggling. I mean, why else would you want to go through all the hassle of finding someone to buy your 8800GTX, waiting to sell it, losing a lot of money in that process mind you and then fiddling about putting two GTs in, which will probably cost you more then just keeping the GTX which would more then likely deliver better performance anyway.

Keep it, get something later, at least after the 9800 knocks the 8800 prices down.

Keep your GTX for now and upgrade to what's available then. Even if nothing outstanding comes out, current products will be at lower prices.
