Silence PSU fans

In my everlasting mission to silence my pc, I would like to have a go at slowing down my PSU fans. The PSU in question is a 600W Magna, not that I think this should matter and should be a generic mod. But I would like some advice on wether it is safe (for the PSU) to slow down the fans, and if its easily done by placing a resister inline?

I know it can also be dangerous working inside a psu, but feel confident enough to accomplish this and the fans can be easily adapted without going near any large caps :D

any advice, muchly appreciated.

How much hot air can you feel comming out the back?
If the answer to this questions is fairly hot then I would leave it alone. If you caould somehow measure the temp in there, then how hot is it.

well it does push out hot air, but my ambient temp inside is quite warm. Anarion what model PSU did you damage? was it due to overheating?

Dont slow down the fans, get new more efficient ones. Raising the temperature in the PSU can decrease performance.

Replace your PSU fans with more efficient ones (More CFM less dB). There are guides out there for this (though I think you will not need one for some reason :D).

A silent pc is good, but its no use if you sacrifice cooling performance for silence. Invest in decent fans, a decent case, a good fan controller or just go down the H2O road!
